Welcome to the forum!

I owned the P.C. model myself a year ago. The one I had wasn't that much better than the regular 15-22s.(I have the MOE version and the pistol version also). I ended sending it to S&W because it wouldn't group very tight no matter what I tried. I got it back and they'd replaced the entire upper. It shot better but I sold and bought a Sport.

Best move I personally could of made.

Your results might vary.

If you want the RRA 2stage trigger, match chamber and match fluted barrel yes it is... but if your gonna just be plinking and not for dead nuts accurecy then go with a standard model.. BTW i have the PC and i love it.. but if the only reason i bout it was i couldnt wait for the 15-22 so i just sucked it up and went with the PC, but i DO LOVE THIS GUN ITS ACCURATE!!

For the price no.

I own a base model ar 15 22. I bought it for $450 brand new and i broke the barrel in as if i would a big gun and i shoot with cheap ammo a 1.5" at 50yrds That is all a hunting .22 should shoot anyways. And at 25yrds in at just under a 1" group.

I own a PC model and have been very happy with it. I think the VLTOR stock, grip, better trigger, and fluted barrel were well worth the $200 extra .

If you will be happy with the stock version, then don't spend the extra money.

Thanks all for your input.
I'm leaning towards the PC as I can only have one gun, this one seems to be accurate like a nice bolt action and fun for plinking.

I'm having to make the purchase blind as no one in the club owns one yet and I have not had chance to fire one

How are the iron sights on the PC model? They don't seem to fold down, so how does that complicate adding a scope and leaving the iron sights in place? I really like the MOE version, but wouldn't mind the extra accuracy, and especially the trigger, of the PC model.

I have had my PC for about 3 weeks . It is worth the extra money especially if you are used to a 2 stage trigger . I have 2 Rock Rivers and the smith is supposed to have the Rock River trigger group . Except for the weight and kick you can't tell the difference . By the time you buy a plain jane smith and add the better trigger, stock and pistol grip you are almost to the PC price .

Yes the PC model has fixed sights. If you want folddowns then buy them. And don't confuse the PC model with a boltgun's accuracy, it is not in that class. I have a Remy 597 with a lot of aftermarket parts that will shoot rings around my PC model. But my PC shoots steel like nobody's business. I have about the same amount of money total in each, about $1000. For that the 597 is a VTR tactical model with an aftermarket Volquartsen carbon-fiber sleeved bull barrel and a Jard 1.5# trigger. The PC has a Nordic alloy handguard and compensator, Geissele Super 3-Gun trigger, KNS locking trigger pins, and Magpul BAD lever. The PC does what I want it to do, shooting Steel Challenge and Ruger Rimfire Challenge events mostly.
Right tool for the right job. Each one could do the others job but not quite as well. In fact the 597 used to be my SC/RRC rifle up until the 2011 RR World Championships when I switched just before the event.
