    Model 41 Mags

Seems that Exaviator nailed it with warn pins. I'll look for replacements and/or more mags without warn pins. Thanks to all for the help.

    Model 41 Mags

The, new to me, 1979 Model 41 came with three mags. (see pic) Only the mag with the orange follower (also marked 12 for capacity and with the S&W logo) holds the slide back when empty. The two 10-round mags don't hold the slide back but appear to have the "pin" that is supposed to do that...

    Model 41 Grips (FOUND)

Looking to buy a set of Model 41 grips to replace the Herrett grips that came on a new to me 41. The Herrett's don't have the cut out for the slide release or have the raised thumb rest. They work but...

    The Ultimate Model 10 Thread!

1974 10-6 Ugly duckling holster wear but very few rounds through it. Fantastic "Smith" trigger and still a tack driver. 1974 10-6. Original grips in storage with larger Altamont rosewood grips for comfortable shooting.

    Remove Minor Rust

Cleaned Up Used the chore boy and Rem-Oil followed by a light rub and buff with bee's wax. Could I send it in for re-bluing, yes but I still have to debate that with myself. Took it pretty much apart except for some of the small trigger parts and didn't remove the barrel. There was some...

    Remove Minor Rust

The chore boy secret must be out. Stopped at the local Ace and two food stores. All carry it but all are out. Buddy at Ace will call me when they get more in and hide one for me. Merry Christmas to all!

    Remove Minor Rust

Recently inherited Model 17-4 made in early 1980 with pinned barrel. According to my relative; "it got wet one time". Ok. Overall it's in very good mechanical condition with some loss of bluing in a few "water spot" looking areas but I do want to inhibit any further corrosion and stop some...

    Model 10-6 in .357 Magnum

Looked further Found her real S/N under the grips on her square butt. "D" prefix with a date that puts it made in '74 (per Standard Catalog). So, have to wonder what the other serial numbers on the side of the butt and the crane really mean. Hmmmmm???

    Model 10-6 in .357 Magnum

Another 10-6 in .357 Just picking up on your thread. My 10-6 in .357 also has no prefix letter and is only five digits 42178 (you can see it in the pics). Any additional history would be great. Thinking of sending in for a letter from S&W too.

    Unfired Mod 37

Wife has two Detective Specials. I put Badger grips on those to make them more comfortable for her to shoot. The OEM grips are similar to the OEM Smith grips and leave too much room behind the trigger guard for fingers/knuckles to get beat up with recoil. I have Altamont's on my 629, a 64 and...

    Unfired Mod 37

69Hemi: from my understanding, the banana grips were purchased after the gun so he had the original, standard and the banana grips. The owner wanted to keep the banana grips for another one of his J-frame Smith's so I got the gun with the standard grips. I have a set of banana style grips on...

    Unfired Mod 37

Had an opportunity to trade for an unfired 1975 made Model 37 Air Weight. Just had to share. I'm usually more of a Detective Special fan but I couldn't pass this up. Traded a H&R Mod 999. The owner wanted to keep the curved grips for his other J-Frame S&W but had the original grips, box and...
