Model 41 Mags

The, new to me, 1979 Model 41 came with three mags. (see pic) Only the mag with the orange follower (also marked 12 for capacity and with the S&W logo) holds the slide back when empty. The two 10-round mags don't hold the slide back but appear to have the "pin" that is supposed to do that. Hmmmmm??? They all work/feed perfectly. Just wondering why only one holds the slide back when empty.

Looking closely at the photo, the pins on the two mags on the RHS appear to be worn. This is a common problem with mags that have plastic followers.
To rectify you will need to replace the followers.

Without having both the gun and the magazines in front of me, I'd say the pins might not be fitting properly. They might also have a burr on them. While wear might cause the issue, I would focus more on burrs or poorly shaped or bent pins.

Seems that Exaviator nailed it with warn pins. I'll look for replacements and/or more mags without warn pins. Thanks to all for the help.
