Add fluting to a straight untapered 20" barrel and maybe an integral compensator?

Have you tried using a strap wrench on it? They sell inexpensive ones with a plastic handle & rubber strap at Sears and other tool outlets for a reasonable price.

Looks like an MP15-22, but whats with that mark/groove on the barrel about a 1/2" back from the flash suppressor? I don't remember seeing anything like that on the suppressor equipped barrel I used to have.

Rechecking your pic it looks like your hole may in fact have a piece of metal left over from drilling that was not completely removed during the deburring process. Its nothing to worry about structurally, but that small piece 'could' get knocked loose later and maybe (but probably not) bind up...
