What's already been said is great advice. Before you go out to the range again try this: Triple check that your weapon is unloaded and there is NO ammo in the same room. Tape a nickel on a safe wall (one that doesn't lead into an occupied area). You didn't specify if you were shooting double...

Personally I only use Hogues. Here's a link to their wood revolver stocks. Don Hume is the best leather IMHO.

Look at Robar. I've never heard any complaints about their work, I know I've been 100% satisfied. IIRC they can install new sights, including the big dots.

When I carried a Model 10 (I know I'm old) I had the hammer bobbed. It was the most comfortable gun I ever wore. It was in a Bianchi IWB (before reinforcing the holster mouth became popular). If that's not an option, or even if it is, I agree 100% with the previous posters, get a quality rig...

I took some sandpaper and elbow grease to my first snubby's stocks so they would accommodate speedloaders. I think I would use a dremel these days if i didn't use Hogues exclusively.

When I bought a 1/2 case of ammo from Cabella's it came with a "dry box." It's basically an oversized plastic ammo can with a locking tab. It's plenty big enough for you needs IMO. I keep eyes, ears, holster, pens, tape, etc. in it ans still have room left over. I don't know if they sell it...

My 3" ported .44 Mag is the "Trail Boss" and is factory IIRC. I don't remember the dash #.

Last I played with the SEALs (90s) they were primarily using the MP5 (N & SD2), SIG P-226s, S&W 66 (for ops in silty water), silenced Ruger Mark II, and pistol grip 870s. In reality they could carry anything they wanted. I saw folding stock M-14s, Browning Hi-Powers, Glocks of all flavors...
