I have noticed that over time it has gotten better as it's not as hard to set the mag in place. My sons mp 45 fs is the same way. It's really not an issue with me. Most of the time when I change mags I do it while the slide is in the open position

My Mp40c is the same way. If you leave the slide open on mine the full mag will just snap right in. But if it's closed you got to push it in pretty good. Form what I hear from others that's normal.

I have the mp40c. It is my EDC. That being said if it wasn't my EDC I would probably keep the full size. Unless the compact is more comfortable for you.
