I just ordered a few full sized 9mm mags for my 9c earlier this week. My question is how do they feel in the had with an x-grip? Do they wobble around or anything?

Mine don't. Some wrap a turn or two of electrical tape if they feel loose.

If anything, mine is so tight it makes getting the mag in with the slide closed difficult

Thanks for the good info. I am looking forward to getting the boxes from Mag Commander and eBay this week to find out on my own.

Mine doesn't wobble around at all. It was actually too snug. I had to grind the bottom of the extension down a bit to get the mags seated. Works great!

I too have read about wrapping your mags with electrical tape a turn or two. The husband went with the 17 round mags for his 9c and uses the x-grip and he really likes it. Be careful while loading the mags though.. The husband has had issues with his finger getting pinched. I too can get a finger pinched loading my 12 rounders into my mags for my 9c. It has cost me enough blood, so I try to remember to extend all non used fingers away when reloading. I reload with gusto though..
The husband just started using the 17 round mags without the x-grip. He actually really likes it. He said that he does not have to worry about getting pinched now.

That is some good info to keep in mind. My Walther P-99 bit my finger a few weeks ago. I need to remember to keep my fingers out of the way.

I actually haven't had any issues pinching when i'm using my fs mag/x-grip in my 9c. Of course i'm mainly "range shooting" and haven't tried any defensive courses or drills yet where speed in re-loading a mag into the firearm may be part of the skill set.
Once i have the mag started my grip hand/fingers somehow stay out of the way while I snap it in. I could see how they might get pinched if i wasnt taking my grand ol' time though lol

Beware the pinch!

When I shoot my 9C I use all of the mag combos so they feel familiar. Compact mag with flat plate. Compact mag with finger extension. FS mag with XGrip. FS mag without XGrip.

As I live in CA and suffer the 10 round limit, the FS mags don't offer any real advantage when used in my 9C.

I do have a FS 9 so the XGrips were more of an experiment

You feel so stupid when you realize that your gun is sticky and that the stickiness is from your finger bleeding. I have competed for so many years, not doing a "tactical" reload seems strange. lol

When I first got my 9c I put about 700 rounds through it before modifying it (Apex). I made a point of using the flat basepad mag the most so I got used to it. Now I automatically just curl the pinky under the basepad when I shoot it. The darling husband never got used to the flat basepad mag. I agree it is a good idea to get used to all the mags that you are going to use with your gun. Especially if it is going to be a carry gun.

this is something i tell myself when i plan a range visit, to practice with the 12-rounders "in case" i ever carry my 9c as i am not that good or comfortable with the hold on that stock mag setup..... but i take the easy way out each time and stick with my fs mag lol as that is what i'm comfortable (& more accurate) with.
Guess i should at least run a mag or two worth of the stock mag each visit so if i am ever pressed into the need i have some confidence with it. Or maybe just get a fs 9 and be done with it.
;)

I bought a .40c and wanted greater capacity. Did the X Grip thing.

Then I bought a 9Pro... Having that convinced me to make the .40c back into a C, it's intended purpose.

I do like them on my .45 though.

I got my full sized mags today, the X,grips should be in my Wednesday.

I just got my x grip in today. It fits great. I'm very impressed. It doesn't move around and looks like it's suspose to be be there.

I've had one for a while now (on a 40c)and will be getting another. I had to do the elec tape method b/c it was too loose on the mag. Having the full size grip via X Grip has pretty much done away with my 10rd finger mags, as I carry with flat bottom and go to extended next (kept in jeans coin pocket). The flat base is what really makes it sub compact and not compact. My advice is get two X Grips now with an extra full size mag. If you're carrying the mags as back up ccw, you'll appreciate the extra rounds when the time comes. And when qualifying (if you do) its nice to get back at the 25 with a mid size gun plus less reloads.

The X-Grip was in today mail. It is a little sloppy on the magazine, but I have no doubt that it can be fixed with a wrap or two of tape.
This grip has a new feeling in my hands. Some how I figure it would have the same feeling as a full size in my hand. It does not come all the way back like F/S does. It does give me a nice sturdy feel and I am sure it will shoot just fine.
I plan to CC with the 12 round magazine with the finger grove. The full size magazine with the X-grip will be used a a back up carry magazine. With luck it will never have to be used. Well other than practice.

I have a .40C with 4 standard mags with pinky extensions and 3 FS mags with X-grips. I would, however, like to see S&W (or aftermarket, i suppose) offer a "goldilocks" mid-size magazine like Springfield does. I am sure I am not the only one who would be interested. Even with the pinky extensions, the 10 round mags still feel just a little too short for me, and the extra 2 or 3 rounds wouldn't hurt either.
