    My 686 4" issues

Have several S&W revolvers and love them. In November I bought a 686 4" which must have been built on a Monday. First trip to the range and it wouldn't cock single action. Double action, the trigger wouldn't reset. On one occasion I got it to cock single action and as I raised it to the target...

    What would you do?

Back to S&W. Called them and they sent me a shipping label and said it would be 2-4 weeks

    What would you do?

I did that. and really didn't see anything that stood out but I am kind of like a pig looking at a watch when it comes to internal revolver parts. Now Semi auto's I am very good at.

    What would you do?

Went to the range with it and it was a nightmare at the start. Would not stay cocked single action, trigger would not reset double action on many occasions. Once, it cocked single action and then fired with no trigger pull. So, I continued, very cautiously, to "break it in" and after about 80...

    What would you do?

What really upset me the most is that I have 2 other 686's and they are flawless and beautiful revolvers. Bad on me also for not seeing this before I bought it, because I would not have paid the price for a gouged gun. I know it's minor and doesn't affect the function, but it's there and I don't...

    What would you do?

They're pretty deep and thought I could buff them out. But, after looking at them closely, it would take removing some material which I am not comfortable with.

    What would you do?

I was very excited to find this 686 plus 4" at my LGS and grabbed it right away. While cleaning it before taking it to the range I discovered a "cosmetic" flaw that in no way will affect the performance but just looks bad. What do I do? Return it or just shoot it?

    Grip change

You are absolutely right. I got my 617 and my 686 confused. My 686 does have an allen head in the grip. I do like the Hogue grips but they don't look as nice. Comfort or ascetics? Have to choose.

    Grip change

I have several S&W revolvers with wood grips (686+) but recently bought a 686 plus 4" that has a rubber grip with the screw at the bottom. Can I change out this grip for wood grips with the screw in the center of the grip vs the bottom? And, what would you recommend? Thanks Got ahead of myself...

    BE-86. What a mess! UPDATE

I agree. I have loaded 100's of 38 special, .357 Mag and .45 Colt with BE-86 and never an issue using my Dillon SDB

    Two new 686's

Love both my 686's but had an issue with the 6" on the first range trip. During the first 100 rounds I had a lot of trigger reset problems but it straightened out after that and no problem since. Just needed a little break-in i guess. Great shooting revolver

    Two new 686's

Just got my new 686-6 Deluxe and now have it and a 686 3" with 500 rounds through it which convinced me to buy the 6". Have always been pretty much a Semi-auto guy but after buying several Uberti and Pietta revolvers, I decided to try Smith & Wesson. Really like the feel and accuracy of my 3"...

Sold Pending Funds: Pro Series 9mm For Sale

I have a 9mm Pro Series 1911 that is just occupying space in my safe. I really like the gun, but just don't use it, so I guess it's time to move it on to somebody that will give it the attention it needs. It has a total of 350 rounds through it and looks like a new gun. No scratches or "idiot...
