Been playing with it and, yes, it needs an extra push. I found if I just use my thumb to really 'push' it up, it clicks locked. Just surprised as none of my other semi-autos need that extra push. Thanks.

There is also a guy on Gunbroker that sells the paper. Search for S&W paper. Ordering direct may be cheaper though.
