    Mystery Gun- What is it?

Hi Mike, Thanks for bringing the Mystery Gun to the forum. It's been a great detective story with many interesting turns. And your own detective work is perhaps the most interesting part from my point of view. When the jury reaches a verdict, maybe the owner can be convinced to arm himself...

    Mystery Gun- What is it?

Hi there, it's good to be back. Had not been really active since the transition to the new forum. Lots of new names and a few old ones. Are Osprey and Smitnut still around? What about Jim Supica himself? I loved their posts. I am aware letters are normally a plain statement the date of...

    Mystery Gun- What is it?

a couple of ideas The museum director mentions several auctions in which Rock Island Arsenal guns were sold. Auction catalogues for those sales may be buried somewhere in their files, or the auctioneer's, or the local library, or area gun collector's files. The caliber in this case should be a...

    Model 60 J frame?

Not *A* J-frame. Mod 60 is the stainless version of the Chief's Special Mod. 36, the original J-frame, and about the most common of all J-frames out there. If you are new to them, do some more research before rushing into anything (not that you'll regret any choice of S&W, mind you).

I need help identifying what this is?! NEW INFO

For a complete and fastidious test, Norm, you could look on the back of the ejector 'star' to see if there's a number there (if replaced most probably not) and if there is one, see if it's the serial # (not sure on this one, but postwars should have it there too). Replacement stories always have...

    Opinions on the 66-1

Get it. Great gun at a prospectively good price. Best of the 'shooting' K or L snubbies, if you ask me. AirComando you bought what? ;)

    HELP-Reinstalling a M 10 sideplate

There may be more probems in your particular case, but yes, you've got to gently tap it back in. Real gently. Use something made of wood or the back of a screwdriver (if it's plastic). You'll hear it snap in place. Tight is good, if it wasn't it'd be a problem. Hope it helps.

    Now these J Frames with Tyler T-Grips Look Right . . .

Very nice guns. Love that Bodyguard (Terry's too), though I think the Tylers look better on the Stainles Chiefs', if only, on a shiny-on-shiny basis. And I agree. I like the "etching" better too. Great buys. Congrats. FB

I actually sort of hate it when this happens.

I know what you mean. I've broken-in a M&P or two I had (short lived) doubts as to shoot them or not. Guess things could have been different should I had brought them home right after buying them instead of stopping by the range (though probably not). Beautiful little Terrier there. I passed on...
