    The Wisdom of Yogi Berra

"...and they give ya cash, which is just as good as money!" I don't know which is funnier, the duck's reaction, or the guy outside as the duck walks out. Best of the Aflac commercials, with the possible exception of the Aflac roller coaster commercial. :D

    A Hurricane Story

You long-time residents of Mississippi and Louisiana may find this interesting. I'm sure many of us here, especially those of us in "hurricane country" remember Dr. John Hope, that white-haired elderly meteorologist who was the hurricane expert for The Weather Channel from TWC's beginning in...

What is the best deal you ever got on a gun?

My best deal is a tie between two firearms.... 1. An 8" artillery Luger that I bought in 1965 for $89.95 2. My surplus DCM M1 Carbine in excellent condition, bought in 1964 for $17.50 plus $2.50 shipping. I still have the carbine. It's a National Postal Meter.

    Hurricane Season

Peter, Yup! You will get hit again one day, just like I will get hit again one day. Might as well be ready. :)

    Hurricane Season

Peter, I went through Eloise, Opal, and Ivan here in Florida, but I was living in Houston in '83 when Alicia hit. You know what? The evacuation program there was just as ***** as it is here! Lines of cars miles long going nowhere. LOL! Ya reckon they'll ever get that figured out?

    Hurricane Season

Raider, Yeah, I forgot about ICE. $1 per bag ice which, after a hurricane, goes to $15.00 per bag! :D

    Hurricane Season

Here in Florida we are now into the hurricane season. Any day now, you're going to turn on the TV and see a weatherperson pointing to some radar blob out in the Atlantic or the Gulf and making two basic meteorological points: (1) There is no need to panic. (2) We could all be killed. Yes...

    Questions about my 17-2

Thanks, folks, for all the great info! I didn't know that dry-firing rimfire guns was harmful. I haven't been doing it, but I checked my revolver...the cylinder counterbores look sharp around the edges...no sign of peening that I can see. Even though my grips are not correct, they fit my hand...

    Questions about my 17-2

I have fairly large hands and long fingers and I REALLY LIKE those larger grips. They remind me of the grips my M19 4" had.

    Questions about my 17-2

Hi, folks! I was advised in the New Members forum that 17-2s were made between 1961 and 1967, so I believe I'm in the correct forum for my questions. 1. Can someone tell me when my revolver was manufactured? Serial number is K6380XX. 2. I bought this revolver as a "Model 17-2", but I am...

    Greetings from NW Florida

Hi, everyone! I'm Steve and I'm 65 years young and a Vietnam vet. Started shooting in 1958 at 12 and got away from it in the 90s when my eyes went south. Learned the hard way that even if ya can't see real well, you'll still miss havin your shootin' irons. So, I have a newly aquired 17-2...
