Why are you guys doing this to yourselves? I can see grown men crying themselves to sleep tonight over this single post.
I guess we all have had a gun we either sold or should have bought. Today all of my guns have particular purposes: off duty carry, BUG, target or hunting and that is how I...
I don't know the name of the original grips, they are somewhere in the safe but they had finger grooves for 3 digits allowing for a good grip. I took mine off for a set of Spegal wood boot grips for better concealment and now my shirt or jacket does not catch on the wood, exposing the gun. As...
I agree, if you were to remove all of the human factors involved and fire the gun from a ransom rest, you would see exactly what the "gun" can do. Ammo selection is critical for accuracy and obtaining that ever sought after ragged hole. As for accuracy modifications to a new revolver, a...
I would
I have been a cop for 24 years and a firearms instructor for 15years. I started my career shooting .38 round nose ammo in a M19. A few years later we were issued .357 125gr sjhp ammo and it was a confidence booster. In 1991 I was issued a Glock 9mm, but I wanted to keep carrying my .357...
I have two revolvers which have ported barrels. My 629 has the factory power ported 6.5 inch barrel and to tell you the truth, I do not believe it does much, other than make the report sound much louder. I had my 640 Magnaported and I can honestly say it does help me while shooting full .357...
My advice is if you want it done right, get a good gunsmith to do a basic tigger job on it. I had my gunsmith polish all of the internals on my 640 and it now has a very smooth trigger that has improved even more with use.
Thanks for the replies. But I am not sure of sending it back to S&W as it has been worked, or doesn't it matter. I know for a fact that Remington will replace your trigger if it is not stock and the gun gets sent back.
As for Fords, I did not believe they did satin finish work. I will...
I carried a 4" 686 on duty and killed countless deer with head shots. But that was the coup de gras shot after being struck by an automobile. With that being said, when my department upgraded to automatics. I had my gunsmith build me a hunter out of it. It had a 6" Douglass bull...
I have a 640 that I have carried everyday for the past 15 years. The trigger has been smoothed, sights improved and I even had it Magnaported. It has been a great little gun and has served me well. But lately I have been toying with the idea of having it freshend up with a satin finish. Can...
I have an early 90's 640 .357 and have used it as a BUG for years. The trigger was a little rough at first and rapid shooting of .357 loads was a bit of a hand full. So I had my gunsmith smooth out the trigger and I had him install an orange insert on the front sight ramp for faster aquisition...
It is basically a matter of preference. I have 8 different holsters for the J frame guns. Over the years, I have carried different variations as a BUG with a 640 being my most recent revolver. The most comfortable for me is a pancake holster on the belt.
