Take a look at gunbroker. You can usually find the Storm Lake barrels really cheap (about $100). For the guys using the S&W factory 9mm barrels, do you have the 2.0 version gun? How's the barrel hood to slide fit?

Maybe a local gunsmith would order a stock mag release from S&W for you?

I think Wirthwein and maybe Midwest Gunworks have take off parts. Is yours a performance center gun?

Dawson Precision has one as does Clipdraw. They both replace the plate on the back of the slide though. I'm not sure if the are any that attach to the serrations the way some do for glocks. ETA TacRack also

Something I didn't see mentioned is the difference in the hardness between the metals of the slide stop lever and the slide. The slide is much harder than the lever. Every time you use the lever to close the slide you are wearing away material. Eventually the tab on the lever will not fit the...

I forgot about the Talon Grips. They might be a better option. The Hogue sleeves can be difficult to put on, even on a gun with less texture.

I'd rather have the plastic box too. Smith has them for sale on their site I believe. As far as the grip texture, it is definitely rough. I shot 200 rounds of Gold Dot through the .40 in 45 minutes this weekend and my hand was RED! Hogue makes rubber slip on sleeves called Handalls. I've read...

Maybe a local gunsmith can help you out? Go in, check out their wares, buy a couple small things like cleaning supplies (even if you don't really need em). And then an "oh yeah, while I'm here..." Offering to pay a little extra might not hurt.
