I see lots of replies but no definitive answer. I have no argument with the replies that have been made. I know that if a "tool" is used it will show some wear. However has anyone actually bought any touch up paint that covers scratches on the model 642? If so what brand and color?
Thank you for explaining all of that. I have never messed with the grips that came on my 4566. I have wondered how they come off, and about whether they need cleaning underneath occasionally. The thing that always stops me is the part about how you get them back on.
I have found used magazines at pawn/gun shops for as little as $15.00 each for my model 4566. Look around some and you will save money on magazines. A lot of these shops will have a drawer full of used magazines.

I feel better now after reading all of this. I sold my Glock 30, and went to an S&W model 4566 because I found I just liked it better. I thought it was all because I was just getting older and going back to my first love (all steel guns).

"The reason for it is that I am not 100% comfortable with the 1911 in condition 1."
I am happy to see that at least another person has gone through this besides myself. I own a wonderful model 1911 but have never truly been comfortable with it in (condition 1). I almost always carried it in...
If this new gun is intended mostly for range use, then a S&W model 659, or something in that family would work well. I own a 659 and it is my favorite gun for shooting targets.
