You may want to try the Sierra Pro Hunters I think I read they are constructed a little heavier in the Jacket than the Game Kings. I have used the Sierra 150 grain Spitzers for many years with good luck. The ones I have are from the days before they called them the Pro Hunters. On broad side...
Rem 512X
I have a Remington 512X that I've had for over 50 years. It is very accurate and will shoot groups comparable to some of the best 22's available. If you run across one in good shape I would not hesitate.
I still load on my father's Lachmiller loading press and some of the die I use are also Lachmiller dies. I think he bought this back in the 50's. It also came with 12 gauge dies that we used to load the old paper shell with. This was also with paper wads (preplastic wads). I think I've dated...
Jig Paint
I've had good luck with fishing jig paint. It takes three coats, a white base coat, the color coat (I like the bright orange), and a clear top coat. This is a little more work but has held up well so far.
Brass Shells
When I was a young guy my father and his buddy loaded and shot a lots of brass shells in their over and under's. This was before the days of plastic hulls and wads. When they reloaded the brass shells they used 11 gauge paper wads for the over the power and filler wads. Because of...
686 Pro
I just bought the 686 Pro ssr and I'm very happy with it so far. I'm not sure how the trigger compares to the 686 Plus, but in my opinion I think the double action trigger pull is one of the best I've used and the single action pull is great too. The other part I like is the...
Cast Bullets
I've had good luck with Oregon Trail and Acme cast bullets in my 44 special and 45 acp. I've also tried Polly Coated Acme's which has looked encouraging, but I have not shot that many of them yet.
Sight hights
The sight blades are not all the same height. My 625 PC came with a .250" gold bead front sight, but needed a .300" to get enough elevation adjustment. There maybe others but I know these two heights are available.
