I would like to change out the gold dot sight on my 625-8. It is the interchangeable style so swapping it out is a snap. Question is, are all the interchangeable blades the same height? Thanks for any info.
The sight blades are not all the same height. My 625 PC came with a .250" gold bead front sight, but needed a .300" to get enough elevation adjustment. There maybe others but I know these two heights are available.
There are many sight heights available for the IFS equipped revolvers from many manufacturers.
The easiest thing to do, if you revolver is shooting to point of aim right now, is remove your front sight and measure it, then buy one of the same height.
I really like the interchangeable front sights. But, be careful when holstering one to make sure that the muzzle is inserted carefully into the holster. I once pulled mine out while shooting a match and the front sight was gone! Oops! I located the sight in the holster after the stage was finished. Later, checking on how it happened, I found that hitting the front sight on the front of the holster when reholstering, popped the sight right out. I'm very careful now!
Measure the height and width of the stock site and go from there. Dawson Precision has fibre sites in many height / width combinations. I have these on many of my guns....
Thanks for all the feedback and information. Measured mine out and it is a
.250 height so I quess thats what I will be replacing it with. Am I correct in assuming that the name of this style sight is the SW DX/ Classic one? That's what it appears to be looking on the Dawson Precision sight? Thank again.
