629-4 with 4" barrel. Are there very many out there?

The gun in the above post is exactly what I'm looking for. The 5" DX Ed posted is another I'd like to have later.

629-4 with 4" barrel. Are there very many out there?

I've decided I want one of these. I like the way they're made (I had a 629-4 5" Classic). I seldom see one for sale, leading me to think not many were made. Also, what would I expect to pay for one in very good condition? Thank for the advice.

Problem with M&P 10mm + Customer Service Nightmare

Personally if it was me I would sell the gun and move on. No way I'm going to let a company treat me like that. I love the Smiths I own but they are several decades old, made when S&W was staffed with better people.

    Value Model 58

Well darn. That's where it is on my two 58's. Both are N series guns. All my other N frame Smith's have a serial number inside the crane. Learned something new today. Thanks!

    Value Model 58

I'm looking at one of my 58's serial number and it has neither an S or N prefix, just a 5 digit number. 911xx is it. What does that mean? Thanks. Both of my 57's have a prefix. One is an S, the other an N.

    Tactical Flashlights: Tacticool or Practicool?

I also buy a lot of parts to assemble lights from Mountain Electronics, but you can buy a decent light for a fair price from other places. For an everyday pocket light I've settled on the following: Runs on a single 1850 battery Single LED emitter from Cree that puts out about 1200 lumens...

    29-2 cylinder throat question

If I'm shooting cast, I like for the bullet to be at least .001" larger than groove diameter, and .002" larger is fine also. If the cartridge operates at magnum pressure I like a gas check. If this were my gun I would load some .432" gas checked cast bullets in it and it will shoot great.

    Are Glocks safe?

Each to his own, but this is my random .02...... I don't carry a gun on me, but for a car gun, sometimes I have my 629, or my 58, but most of the time it is a Glock 9mm (Model 45). After reflecting on years of shooting, my 9mm's in general have been the most reliable feeders and extractors. And...

    Jacketed or Hard Cast

A Wide Flat Nose (WFN) cast bullet would be my choice, but everything has to be right. Can't Forrest Gump your way around with cast like with jacketed stuff.

    S&W 686 vs Colt Python

I had a 6" Python probably made in the 80's. Beautiful gun. I didn't like the double action pull. And as said above, the cylinder latch worked backwards. I never handloaded for it, so never even measured the cylinder length, but if a Keith bullet seated in the case where it is intended to be...

    Getting a .22Mag cylinder for a .22LR revolver

On a revolver made specifically for .22 LR, and has a .222" bore, running .224" WMR jacketed ammo through it will raise pressures to the point the cases are difficult to extract. BTDT. And don't recommend it. The revolvers made for both calibers from the factory usually have the larger .224"...

    Has anyone used a Clipdraw?

I have one on a Glock G45 and like it a lot. I plan to get one for my G43 soon.

Smith Model 58, San Antonio PD

Thanks. Maybe I'll just look for a regular 58 in really nice shape. I already have a 58 that has been shot a LOT. Really good gun. Just want a newish looking one to go with it.
