Burned like hell... shell on the back...

Amen to this. Yes, it’s hot, but I always keep in my mind I have a loaded weapon in my hand when I feel that familiar burn. I just grimace through it, put the gun down, then deal with the casing.

    Safe REVOLVER Hand Grasp

Same here. That’s how I learned eons ago, and i find I have better accuracy AND control of recoil — which is the opposite of what most who advocate the thumbs forward grip claim. I’ve tried the thumbs forward method, but when I get the palm of my left hand against the grip, my right fingers are...

    Too much powder residue?

Although several other posters suggest this is okay, I’ve never seen one of my revolvers this dirty, even after a couple hundred rounds of factory ammo through it. And my left hand only has minor residue. Were you shooting factory ammo or reloads? If factory, then I would say this is NOT normal.

So where do you all buy ammo?

I buy my ammo in bulk (500 - 1000 rounds at a time) from Lucky Gunner. I’ve compared the prices, and even with shipping, the price per round for Speer Lawman is still a lot cheaper than if I bought WWB locally at Walmart. It gets to me within 2 days of ordering, delivered right to my door...

    Smith customer service

Great to hear. Based on the timing of your original post, that's just at a 3 week turnaround. Not bad at all.

    Smith customer service

It will be covered under warranty. I’ve sent two guns back in the last year for warranty work and got an estimate quote of 6-8 weeks. One came back in 4 weeks, one in 2. I doubt you will have to wait the full 10 weeks, but you never know. I have the impression warranty work on new guns moves to...

Trying to decide between Smith or Springfield 1911

+1 on this. I was in the market for a 1911 a couple of months ago, and was considering the Springfield and S&W models when the salesman mentioned he could give me a better deal on a SIG because they don’t move the SIG 1911’s very fast. I walked out with the SIG and about $250 more than if I’d...

    S&W Repair Turn around time

I doubt they will do a non-warranty repair in only a few weeks, but you never know. To be safe, I would call and tell them when you will be away and ask to add a note to the service ticket to not deliver in that time. I did this once with a warranty repair and it was no big deal.

    Cleaning your guns

Why would it be in your cleaning kit if you don’t use it for cleaning your guns? Still confused.

    Cleaning your guns

I’m glad I’m not the only one confused by this. How the heck do you use nail polish to clean a gun? Maybe the OP meant acetone (nail polish remover), but I’m not sure that’s a better solvent for gun cleaning. On to my response to the OP’s question. If spending three hours cleaning your guns...

    CURRENT WARRANTY REPAIR TURNAROUND?

I only have experience for brand new guns (I.e., less than a few weeks after purchase, less than a year after manufacture) and the turn around has been three weeks for one, and five for the other. I suspect it will be a LOT longer for a 26-year-old gun.

Repair Turn-Around Time S&W Perf. Center

I've had two warranty repairs done on new PC revolvers in the last year, and both came back in 2-3 weeks. I think the difference is that your repair is on an older gun and so is for a repair not a warranty. That probably puts it to the bottom of the queue. My warranty repairs were on brand new...

You guys that have sold off your 686s or 686+ =

For me, the decision came down to space (the lack of for storage) and the desire for a new gun — the model 327 PC. Although a bigger frame, it’s lighter than the 686+ I had and feels better in my hand. I like the sights on the 327 better and having one extra round of .357 Magnum is nice. I...

Opinions on fiocchi 357 158gr jhp or their ammo in general

I’ve shot many boxes of it and never had a problem. It tends to be a hotter load than some other .357 Magnum rounds I’ve shot, with more flash, but I have found it clean burning. It’s one of my common target rounds if I can find it. The price is usually close to fmj rounds from other makers.
