My favorite caliber. Have a model 25 in 8 3/8 inch which iz a tack driver.
Also a 625 mountain gun and a 460xvr that loves 45 lc.
Have been collecting S&W for over 60 years
I have 2 686 long barreled (8-3/8) guns, a silhouette and a regular red ramped front site. The full length lug is a little front heavy but they are great to shoot and come back on target very quickly due to the lower muzzle jump. Probably not much heavier that the 10" 41 mag you have.

Nothing like a hot shell case down your back. Try being left handed and shooting all those right handed semi-automatics. Worst I ever had was a hot 20-06 case from a fully automatic BAR when I was 16 in the Army national Guard.
Learn to live with it and duck fast.
the 686 is one of the best guns S&W ever produced in Stainless. I have a 8-3/8 silhouette, 8-3/8 regular w/scope rigs and a 6' and they all shoot great. Next is my 8-3/8 460 and my beautiful blued 8-3/8 Model 25. Have a hard time determining which of them to take to the range.
The 686 8-3/8...
Every time I go shooting at the range, one or more of many hand guns in 45 caliber go with me - all great fun to shoot. 1911 is probably shot the most but I also love my old 4506 - its a real garbage eater - it will launch anything you can feed it in 45ACP and retains its accuracy very well...
Hi,
Looks very much like the knife I carried in the Air Force as a survival item. Its was lost somewhere in the ocean between Korea and Okinawa in 1952.
I own 3 M&P 15's and all of their triggers are smooth and crisp with no discernible creep. A little bit of polishing of the sear parts can only help but I can't justify additional cost as they shoot better than I can hope for from a factory configuration
I have been loading 2.7 grains of bullseye since 1965 and still find it the best load for any style 148 grain wadcutter. Its unfortunately the dirtest powder I use but I still keep going back to it.
I recently acquired a 686-1 with an 8 3/8 inch barrel and adjustable front sight. It is a great tack driver at 25 yards.
I woulod like to know what the adjustable front sight settings do to the point of aim/elevation when changed to one of the other 3 settings.
