    Don't refinish it. While its finish may seem very poor now in 20 years, when 3rd HE .44's go for 5000 plus, finding one with 50% will be vastly better than a refinished one which is 0% finish. I hope that makes sense.

    I too have difficulty shooting with magnas. But add a Tyler T and I reach near perfection. I find that without a grip adapter to take the weight of the gun I can't shoot DA very well at all because my trigger finger contacts too high on the trigger.

    Currently your gun has roughly 80-90% finish. Refinished it will considered 0% finish as it will not be original. I like its looks now.

    Endshake comes from the yoke button and/or the end of the yoke barrel wearing.

    Bingo! Thanks! I replaced it from my spare parts now I have an ejector rod that is about 0.100" too long. Whoever setback the barrel must have removed the collar to make up for the setup. Good job bubba! I only have a Bridgeport for now so I'll just shorten one of my spares.

    I'm rebuilding a 2nd Model .44 HE and recently bought a new ejector rod which I think is NOS. I bought it because my original didn't line up in the barrel cut out. As you can see from the photo the threads on the new one were cut longer than the original. Therefore the new rod screws in...

    Timing could be different between SA and DA. The hand would need narrowed. I would recommend getting a copy of Kuhnhausen's.

    I'll second the theory that the hand is too wide. Could be mainspring knuckling.
