It was an industrial cleaner, nothing special. It is on the caustic side if you were to do a litmus test. Thinned way down it is good for windows. Certainly not acid. The guy that sells it demos by writing on his jeans and removing with this stuff.

R8 trouble I have not had any light strikes. I did send it back to replace the barrel which had a huge chunk missing in the middle. I noticed it even before I stuck my bore scope in it for a good look. Does no one at S&W look at this stuff before it goes out the door?

I have tried the sight on other rails without problems. I ground off a bit on the clamping part and it holds fine now. The gun was with a factory service company for the barrel and they sent it back to me so I could shoot it, at their cost. It is quickly becoming my favorite.

It does hold up well. I don't worry about every last stain when I clean them. If I get really ambitious I guess another bead blast will make them look new.

I sounds like it was never exported. GRC is french for RCMP. I don't think any of these were exported or even released to the Canadian public. When the RCMP changed guns I was the happy recipient of a fair bit of 38spl when guys cleaned out their lockers.

I bought a 929 and have been somewhat unhappy with the quality of this PC gun. Next time I will go out of my way to buy a non PC gun if available and tune it myself, I do better work. I have not shot it a lot but I think it will be a good shooter anyway. Ian

Use Federal primers. My 929 is okay with Feds but bounces off most others.
