I'm in the process of buying a 19-4 official S&W commemorative revolver with gold-filled engraving on the side plate and right side of the barrel. Does anyone know if it is paint, gold leaf, or electroplating? How careful do I have to be with CLP products around it? Can I wipe the area down...
3 Alpha Codes
Thanks for the feedback. I have the third edition of the SCSW, but it only defines 3 alpha codes through 2004. 2015 sounds about right based on what I know about the gun's history.
I can't seem to find an online resource for S&W serial number dating for my 642-2 PC. The serial number is CYS4295. Can anyone point me to a resource or tell me the DOM? Thanks.
My 5906 is on its way to me but the seller did not have the manual. I downloaded the S&W generic metal frame auto pistol manual from the S&W website. Does the original 5906 manual provide any more information than this one? I'm familiar with the basics of the gun, field stripping, operation...
I'm looking for a mint or excellant or NIB 5906. I will pay top $. I'm not interested in guns with black triggers and hammers, and would prefer the rounded trigger guard. Thanks.
I'm in the hunt for a 5906 but I need some help in knowing what to look for in a quality used gun. I'm an old revolver guy, and I know how to evaluate a used revolver, but what should I look for when inspecting a used 5906? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Slide cuts for sights
Is the slide on a 5906 cut differently for adjustable rear sights than for the fixed rear sight? In other words, can either sight be installed on either gun? Thanks.
