I agree with Win. The load I spoke of earlier is shot sparingly and carried in my off duty M64. For range work, I prefer 3.8gr of Bullseye over the same pill (lyman 357466 165gr. SWC.)

I've duplicated this load using Unique and a Lyman(357466)165gr SWC sized at .358 and air cooled. My alloy is quite soft, about 7 BHN, but hard enough to prevent leading. I'm currently pushing the pill at just under 1K fps (989 ave.)from a M64 with a 3" tube, which gives me over 350+ ft/lbs...

Bro. Paul, what load are you using for the 1275fps? Wow! That sounds like my old "EUP Lode" for 38spl.

Thanks for the insight guys. I loaded a dozen using 3.5gr of Unique. They felt very soft and extremely easy to shoot. The primers were round and appeared normal, so no excessive pressure to speak of. They also impacted about 2.5" higher than the 158gr. LSCW-HP. I didn't chrono them, but...

I currently load and cast 158LSWC-HP under 5.0gr of Unique using a M64 with a 3" tube, giving just over 900fps. This is an extremely accurate load and not too harsh either. I've seen or read somewhere you can go as high as 5.4gr of Unique with this pill and still be safe, but I'm not sure...

The better half prefers a M64 with a 3" tube spitting out 158gr SWC I cast. I think they are flying about 900fps or just over. She controls the recoil just fine. Hope that helps some. Stay safe. Later.
