I have been reading all the post
About the 38-44.. I don't have one
But I shoot them in my 686 357 revolver
And my Rossi 92 rifle.
My question is,has anyone tried deer
Hunting with these loads. Seems to me
It would be a good deer load to
Maybe 50 or 60 yards using the
358429 bullet with 2400...
Loading 38s how many do you load for testing. I was thinking 5 put maybe 10 is better. Only 25 yards to start with. My revolver is a 686. 6 inch.
158 gr soft lead cast bullets. Thanks
Looking for some 38/44 load data.
Will my 686 6 inch handle the loads
with no issues? I have standard brass
as well. Plus the 358/156 bullets. Thanks
for any info on this. Oh,I see where some
are using these in the Rossi 92 carbines.
My owner says nothing over plus p loads..
Another question...44 Special only...Using 240 grain load data because there is NONE for the 220 gr HP...Lets just say with the 240 grain bullet your getting 900 fps..What do you suppose the 220 bullet will be traveling???Again this is 44 Special..NOT MAG...gotta get me a tripod for my chrono..John
I know it gets very confusing and when you look at the velocity's of factory ammo you will see even lower velocity's. They can't all be just target shooting loads..
I have here titegroup,,unique,,2400,,blue dot..I want to get a loadfor the 44 special that I know will be good for deer hunting..But just not sure of what velocity I should be aiming for..Range I am thinking NOTHING over 75 yards
Appreciate your reply..I really have no intention of trying to go to fast..I really can't take to recoil such as a younger shooter may be able to obsorb..Maybe I wouldn't get any leading just wanted to see if others have done the same thing..John
ok I got some 220 grain cast HP bullets
but do not find any data for that weight.
Any suggestions..Not sure if I could use the
data for the next weight or the lower weight..
