40 S&W Shield for sale with extra barrels in 9mm conversion and 357Sig. Apex Duty/Carry Sear and Springs, pull just under 5lbs. Hyve Monarch short takeup and reset trigger with custom overtravel limit stop. AmeriGlo Tritium I-Dot Green with Orange Outline Sight Set. DPM Recoil Spring (heavy for...
I'll soon be looking to sell two heavily optioned M&P's: 40/357/9mm barrels, all the Apex goodies, etc. Where would you suggest listing them to be seen by likely buyers for that sort of pistol -- I have no idea, as I usually don't sell. I have an FFL who can handle the paperwork for out-of...
It's normally the opposite -- the 357sig recoil is easier on the wrist than the 40S&W. I have over 15K rounds of full load 357sig on my 2 M&P's and prefer it to the 40.
It's even quite workable in the Shield with the RemSport 40-to-357 conversion barrel.
Ah yes, the "Real Men don't use Lasers" argument again. . .
* Lasers ARE aiming -- you are capable of aimed fire from the moment the gun clears the holster and rotates, without the need or time required to move the pistol to eye level.
* The iron sights are still there in daylight.
* Yes...
There is actually a downside to oiling: oil in the chamber allows the cartridge to thrust rearward against the slide when fired, whereas an un-oiled chamber (if less than about 40K PSI, almost all pistol rounds) exhibits no rearward thrust due to the friction of the case wall in the chamber...
But be aware that all stainless alloys that can be heat-treated, as magazines are, can develop superficial rust in high humidity. It is self-limiting, however, and more of a cosmetic that destructive problem. We encountered it frequently on the stainless hardware of military radios after...
Obviously I cannot argue with your earnestly held opinion, but I have to say that when I switch occasionally from my full size M&P's to the Shield for IPDA-style practice I find it less disruptive with each passing year. You slowly become a "pistolero" and the things that were one hard --...
I am keeping my Shield, since I put in the Hyve trigger I have become very fond of it. But I have ordered a P365, and also bought a P365 blue gun, which has arrived and convinced me the P365 will become my EDC when it finally arrives. In NYS, where we have a 10 round limit, the P365 is a dream...
And he knows that because his bother-in-laws friend, who shoots **** handloads all the time, tried one box of aluminum and then noticed a problem with his barrel. . . Must be true.
If a gun has a safety you need to use it, just so your draw routine includes sweeping it off. I bought a early Shield before non-safety models were available, and didn't use the safety because none of my other M&P's had a safety. One day in IPDA-style shooting it somehow got ON -- and it was...
I have had 2 issues with KKM 357SIG barrels in the past:
One had a chamber so tight that it would not accept a full-length resized case that would pass a case gauge. I wound up buying a chamber reamer and it did take more metal out of the chamber.
Another had questionable heat treating and...
I have a 5" 357SIG using a Storm Lake Barrel in a 40S&W 5" slide. Works great, put many rounds thru it in regular IPDA-style shooting. If you don't want to wait an extra month or two for the Black Oxide option, you can significantly darken the barrel with the Caswell Stainless Steel Blackener...
My favorite securing method with sights is confirm they are shooting to the desired POA, then apply Green (wicking) Loctite to the front and/or rear dovetails if they did not offer much resistance to the pusher. Apply just enough to wick into the dovetail, then in the case of the rear sight...
I use Remington Rem-DriLube, which leaves a dry teflon powder, and does not hold dirt or powder residue. The mags look great inside when I open them for spring changes. I clean them with Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber and re-coat the inside with Rem-DriLube.
I have both the the 357SIG and 9mm Conversion barrels for the 40S&W Shield. Both are virtually identical in quality and workmanship to the factory barrels, and function perfectly (with caliber-correct mags).
