Well, I've never hid them around the house, but I have been known to leave them in the trunk of the car until a more opportune time.

I have one on my 686 and shoot bowling pins with it. Works fine, never lost zero even with some pretty warm loads.

I have found 15 rounds in the gun and a spare mag in the car console works for me.

I paid $400 for this NIB Trooper MK III last year at auction. I haven't been willing to fire the first shot yet.

This one is 3 1/4, I hope an I frame still counts.

If you really are limiting yourself to one, go with the 686. But believe me, after the first one you'll get the bug, and I bet you'll have one of each before you're done.
