To lug or not to lug?

Full underlug is my preferred. Less muzzle jump.

Things may be changing slowly back to normal.

I've noticed more stock in my area too. I've seen lots of powder, primers, and handguns where there was nothing just a few weeks ago. When I mentioned it at one of the shops they said that things seem to be easing up a little.

    627 and +P rounds

The 627 is the N-frame (large frame) 357 and is very strong. I've put several thousand rounds through mine, mostly my own handloads. I don't load "hot" rounds, but don't shy away from what I find in loading manuals. It's wonderfully accurate, a real joy to shoot. It will easily digest +p...

    .357 hurts my ears

Nothing that hasn't already been said by numerous others, but add my vote to purchase of the 357, and then shoot whatever floats your boat. I'm partial to my own handloads of cast bullets. And like the others, I always double up on the hearing protection with good muffs over plugs. You only...

how about a 44 magnum show

My 44 Magnum Super Redhawk My weapons rarely look as pretty as most I see here, they're forever getting dirty at the range.

Secrets and Keys to Snub accuracy?

I shoot my snubs at 7 yards or less, and get good enough results with the sights, but great results with Crimson Trace!

    627 with non-fluted cylinder question

I have one also. It's my favorite shooter! The Model of 1989 627 had a production run of about 5,000 units. As noted previously, they can run as high as $1K for really nice ones. Mines a shooter though, and won't be sold!

Sq Grip Walnut performance center N frame

Sounds like a quick call directly to Smith & Wesson. They can look up the part number for you. They helped me with a replacement sight for my 60-14 (even when it was a non-catalog item). They're very good and very helpful. Good luck

XS 24/7 sight for J Frame - Big or STD dot?

I did a google search - I think I paid $60 plus shipping. ($60 is the MSRP). The part number is RV-0001N-3 for the Big Dot, Front Sight (pinned) If you do a google search on "install XS big dot on J-frame" there's a web page put together by a fellow who really documented the whole process real...

    "J" frame fixed sights

You guys have much steadier hands than me! I'm generally not too worried about a couple of inches when shooting with a 2-inch barrel at 25 yards. I'm pleased as punch if I'm able to hit a dinner plate sized target area. I've seen the YouTube video of the Bob Munden shooting his J-frame at 200...

    Mod 68 LAPD

That's really great looking! Where would they go to get the lettering, etc. done? Does anyone know what it would cost to have a barrell marked with your own favorite lettering?

Now that's what I call "Artwork" What a great looking firearm; you can be justifiably proud.

To Lug or not to Lug

Plus 1 for full-lug I'm another who really likes the full lug. I like the look.

XS 24/7 sight for J Frame - Big or STD dot?

You don't have to drill a larger hole to use the XS Sight. I purchased one that matched the original hole. (I even re-used the roll-pin from my original sight). No windage issues, and elevation is all in how you use the sight. Do you cover the "bulls-eye" or put it on top of the big dot? For...

XS 24/7 sight for J Frame - Big or STD dot?

Yes, you have to insert the new sight into the slot on the barrel and holding the drill bit in your fingers, twist it a couple of times on each side to mark where you need to drill to match the existing holes in the firearm. Remove the sight and drill half-way through from each side. It's...
