how about a 44 magnum show

I finally got a decent picture of my 29-2 and a place to show it. My other 44 mag, a Ruger Super Blackhawk, with a 5 1/2 inch barrel.

Now this is a variation I suspect most of you had never seen. It's a Punxsutawney Phil Commemorative 629-4 that was commissioned through the Smith & Wesson Custom Shop for the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club. On the sideplate instead of the Smith & Wesson logo it has a picture of Punxsutawney Phil. It came in the laser-engraved wooden box with the Certificate of Authenticity that are pictured. They had to use the 8 3/8" barrel in order to spell out "Punxsutawney Groundhog Club" in script. The underlug says "Feb. 2, 1997," the day their delivery was announced. Only 41 of them were made, so this is a rather limited production. It was a Happy Groundhog Day that year.

Somehow the picture of Punxsutawney Phil on the sideplate didn't come through the first time.

Nice! Who is the maker of the LSWC gas check bullet in the photo?

That would be Oregon Trail, their 310gr version. This bullet and five of it's brothers, over 15.4 grs of 2400 will pass, single file, through paper at 20 yards.

Thanks! If you mean the Hunter, it'll shoot anything well. Some better than others of course, but for example, last time I had it out I was shooting with Peppercorn, and we had some over-crimped handloads that were stripping jackets. We were still putting them through one hole at 20 yds. ;) I've heard that the barrels for these were made by Walther, but I don't know if that is true. It is a very accurate revolver, that I do know!

The PC snub is a flamethrower, of course- but the ports work, and I don't stoke it with wrist-breakers anyway. Just a nice shooting gun, for a snub.

Boy, now I'm thinking I better go down to the basement and load some 44!

If I were wanting a 629 that would go sub MOA at 100 yards I would put my money on this one.
That was a great day and too many have passed since then.
We will have to get together and do it again, soon.

I've always liked the 5.5" supers, don't know why this was the only one with round triggerguard it was so much better then the dragoon style

My 44 Magnum Super Redhawk

My weapons rarely look as pretty as most I see here, they're forever getting dirty at the range.

No pics of my first .44, a 7.5" Ruger Super Blackhawk.
Here's my son shooting my 4 5/8" Ruger Bisley Vaquero:

Clean Break

I wish I could find a 4" 29 or 629 I could afford locally but I am just not that lucky :(

bobf, that's a wild looking sixgun you got there
I haven't seen one yet what kind of finish is on it?
And I was wondering how it shoots, have you tried the red dot or a scope on it and is the comp removable ?
that's the one I'm thinking about for this fall
