The value of the guns has not changed as much as the value of your dollar has look at the price of anything new.

I think if a firearm is used to defend ones life then deadly force is justified or you will have much more to worry about than handloads. I do not see how any load can kill deader than another.

Some may argue but blc2 and 748 are supposibly the same powder since hogdon and sells 748 now. If you look through new load manuals the loads are very close. the same is said for h110-296

Forgot to mention if you use a heater on your lubesizer be careful not to over heat the lube as it will become hard to deal with.

I mostly shoot 170-180 cast at 1200 fps in my 686 4" and the hogue grips are fine. I usualy only fire 100 or so mags in a session. A glove might help absorbe shock also.

I have fired many 38sp and 45acp moderate loads with spg. It seams to be a little smokey but reduced leading from the harder lubes I have used.

Been loading with a 550 for 6 years it has only required cleaning and oiling and the return spring for the primer. Last year I moved up to the 650 for pistol loading and it is even better but prefer the 550 for rifle and small batches, the 650 is barley started at 300 rds.

My wife has a 60 pro for a small framed gun it shoots very good. I have not done any bench work with it but did add CT grips and at 25 yards a 4" plate is no trouble to hit with mild 38 loads. It is not to bad with 357 mag's but would not want to shoot them all day that is reserved for the 686...

I would get a single stage that is what I started on and loaded thousands of rounds on it. I now have 2 dillons and still use that old RCBS single stage. A turret press is fine also, look around on the used market it is very hard to hurt an Oframe press if the ram is not worn out it should be fine.
