    Cast bullets for personal defense?

I think if a firearm is used to defend ones life then deadly force is justified or you will have much more to worry about than handloads. I do not see how any load can kill deader than another.

Need Cast bullet for 357 Carbine

Makes sense I may try to stiffin mine up a little and do some 75 yard testing. I would think .359 or so would be needed to prevent leading?

Which hardnessMissouri Bullet 158 gr SWC for .38SPL/357?

The fit between bullet and barrel will be more important with the harder bullets as they will not swell as easy with the reduced loads if they happen to fit leading may not be an issue. Where the lead is in the barrel can tell a lot, at throat bullet is to small or hard along the entire boar to...

    Powder for .308 Winchester

Some may argue but blc2 and 748 are supposibly the same powder since hogdon and sells 748 now. If you look through new load manuals the loads are very close. the same is said for h110-296

    SPG lube

Forgot to mention if you use a heater on your lubesizer be careful not to over heat the lube as it will become hard to deal with.

    Grips for 686

I mostly shoot 170-180 cast at 1200 fps in my 686 4" and the hogue grips are fine. I usualy only fire 100 or so mags in a session. A glove might help absorbe shock also.

Too many reloading manuals is a bad thing

Food for thought on the subject of pressure signs. How do judge pressure in a 38sp or 45acp by the time you see a flat primer you are well over the pressure limit. When loading modern bottlenecked rifle rounds pressure signs are useful but in many pistol rounds they are dangerous. I like the...

    SPG lube

I have fired many 38sp and 45acp moderate loads with spg. It seams to be a little smokey but reduced leading from the harder lubes I have used.

    Dillon RL 550 B. I'm officially spoiled!

Been loading with a 550 for 6 years it has only required cleaning and oiling and the return spring for the primer. Last year I moved up to the 650 for pistol loading and it is even better but prefer the 550 for rifle and small batches, the 650 is barley started at 300 rds.

    .45acp Mountain Gun

Picked up a 625-6 mountain gun today from the local dealer. It seems to be in good shape except for the lead in the bore. If i can remember how to post some pics I will.

Help Please 686 SSR or 60 Pro?

My wife has a 60 pro for a small framed gun it shoots very good. I have not done any bench work with it but did add CT grips and at 25 yards a 4" plate is no trouble to hit with mild 38 loads. It is not to bad with 357 mag's but would not want to shoot them all day that is reserved for the 686...

New guy question re: type of press for beginner

I would get a single stage that is what I started on and loaded thousands of rounds on it. I now have 2 dillons and still use that old RCBS single stage. A turret press is fine also, look around on the used market it is very hard to hurt an Oframe press if the ram is not worn out it should be fine.

    Wife's first time shooting

My wife shot very little when we met. 6 years later I had to buy a dillon 650 to keep up with the demand for 38s. Lately have my mom and sister shooting as well. It is very injoyable to get a new shooter started +1 for the double action revolver I think 22s are best. My only problem is my wife...

    Cast yer own?

I cast 357/38sp for 686 60pro M&P 38sp 44mag and 45-70. This list is growing all the time. I have foud that the more I cast and shoot the better my smiths like cast. The only problem is this has made my added to my addiction. I think almost anything will shoot cast well if the designe allows it...

    Inherent accuracy question -- .223 vs. 22-250

For coyote hunting my vote is 22-250. The 223 may have an accuracy edge in a benchrest match but for low volume hunting where targets move and appear at various ranges and wind changes hits are easier with the higher velocity of the 22-250. All of that said either one will as well as many...

    .30-06 primers for M1

With the m1a, very simular to the m1 garand the more important issue is properly sized brass and or a high primer. If a case is to big the bolt will not rotate into battery or the boltface will contact the primer and kaboom. Springfield armory sent a nice artical on this with my m1a it...

.45 cal 230 gr rn loads for semi-auto

I would look in a hornady manual and start there. as stated above as you storted oal case cappacity is reduced and pressure can go up fast. You are loseing cap at a higher rate than in a bottlenecked case
