    10 round magazine question

S&W 10 round magazines are tamper proof My SW9VE was shipped with two 10 round magazines since I live in a state that has a 15 round limit. You're right about the large horizontal indents (or dimples) to limit the travel of the follower, but there are also cuts in the front and rear of the mag...

Should I trade for a Sigma?

A friend in my gun club bought the PF9 as his CCW gun but quickly replaced it due to reliability issues. It cost about as much as my SW9VE but is by comparison, how do I put this, is a junkier gun. The Sigma is bigger and bulkier, so not the ideal CCW gun. However, quality wise they compare...

    .32 Auto/.32 S&W Long swap?

One more thing... Ruger revolvers are know for being close to indestructible. So a Ruger in 32H&R mag could very likely handle a lot of .32ACP without any damage. A S&W hand ejector is much more delicate. Don' t do it.

    .32 Auto/.32 S&W Long swap?

I wouldn't shoot .32ACP in an old S&W hand ejector This same topic came up at the Cast Bullet Association' s forum some time ago. Ed Harris one of the forum's gurus and former technical editor of the American Rifleman magazine pointed out that the combination of higher pressure and excessive...

    Model 34-1 misfires...

I have one that I bought new in 1981 and have probably put over 30,000 rounds through it and I have never had a single misfire except for poor ammo (that misfired in other guns as well.) I have also never heard of misfires in the Kit Gun. This gun has been a constant companion when I go to...

    Sigma bible?

You might want to start with some of the early published information concerning the Sigma. I have a scan of the original American Rifleman review of the Sigma from 1994. I tried posting it here but somehow screwed up and so gave up. Send me a personal message and I will email it to you.

Why the Sigma section is the "Dark Side"

Since purchasing my Sigma (my second polymer gun but probably my 25th handgun) I have taken to closely examining every polymer framed gun that the members of my gun club own. My conclusion is that the Sigma is comparable in quality to Glocks, SIGS, and H&Ks. Yet the Sigma has an unearned...

Why the Sigma section is the "Dark Side"

I bought Sigma SW9VE last February when I was looking for an inexpensive 9mm handgun (my only other 9mm is a Luger). I had hoped to find a used Glock 19 but instead bought a brand new Sigma. Since then I have shot hundreds of factory fmj rounds through it without a single misfire. And since I...

Unproud owner of Sigma 40 VE

I have been shooting handguns for over thirty years, I own and shoot a 1911, a High Standard target pistol, Colt and Smith & Wesson revolvers and a host of other handguns including a Ruger LCP. I also own and shoot a Sigma SW9VE that I bought when I needed an inexpensive 9mm handgun. If the...

    Photos of TopBreak Groupings PLEASE???

.32 Topbreak Here is my S&W topbreak revolver in .32 S&W with a target showing results of loading .315 round ball on top of 1.5 grains of Bullseye at 25 feet. The sights on this gun are much better than either my .32 S&W hand ejector or my Colt Pocket Positive and the trigger is very nice...

    Altering .38 S&W pistols

Rechambering will result in bulged cases. Back in the 1950s and early 60s many distributors rechambered .38 S&W Victory Models to .38 Special by simply running a .38 Spl reamer into each chamber. They then sold the revolvers as .38 Special Victory Models. They were cheap and firing .38...

Why are Smith & Wesson number 1's so cheap?

Yes, I have. Once I took my Model 1 second issue to my range planing to shoot 22 short CB cap. The range was a 25 yard outdoor range, so all shooting was done at 25 yards and no shorter. I loaded my Model 1 with five cartridges as per our club rules. I carefully aimed the gun using the tiny...
