If you compare the prices say, or early Winchester rifles like the Henry, the 1866, and the 1873, early Savage 1899's and even some of the old Remingtons, why are Smith Number 1 revolvers so inexpensive? They can still be had for relatively low amounts of money, where as I would need to hit the lottery to buy a Henry.

Ever take one to the range?

Yes, I have. Once I took my Model 1 second issue to my range planing to shoot 22 short CB cap. The range was a 25 yard outdoor range, so all shooting was done at 25 yards and no shorter. I loaded my Model 1 with five cartridges as per our club rules. I carefully aimed the gun using the tiny sights. After carefully squeezing off the first round I looked through my spotting scope to see that I had hit the X ring of the NRA timed and rapid target. Thinking it couldn't get any better than that I carefully unloaded the gun and put it away and I haven't fired a shot in it since.
