Should I trade for a Sigma?

A guy I know wants to trade me a Sigma 9 for my Keltec PF9. I like the fact that the PF9 is a good ankle gun, however, the Sigma 9 is a full size hi-cap 9mm. I only paid $100 for the Keltec so I will be in very cheaply. I would only want to get the Sigma for a resale situation and wonder if they will be a sought after weapon in the future? I am not liking the reviews I have been reading.

The SIGMA is not a valuable gun, but given the current political situation it is holding it's value due to being a high capacity gun. I will say that the SIGMA is a very good gun and I would dump the KelTec in a heartbeat.

stick with the sigma. And the only reason why the sigma has bad reviews its because of its "heavy trigger" which is heavier than most but not so heavy that you cant use it. I have a sigma and have put 100's of rounds through her with yet an issue to come up.

Neither gun is a value gun. They both have their niche. I'd say the Sigma is more popular right now because of politics and mag capacities. If you know the guy with the Sigma you should know what you're getting. I'd go for it.

I'd just buy the Sigma. Having 2 guns are better than 1.

My friend, as others have pointed out, they serve different purposes and only you can consider your particular needs. That said, I've never seen a PF9 that is the quality equivalent of the second generation Sigmas - no reason why the tank-like Sigma wouldn't be serving your great grandchildren well as they roam the blighted wastelands of what was the United States . . . not so with the Kel-Tec (in my experience).

Depends on your usage. For concealed carry, some people can CC a Sigma, but I know I couldn't. The Kel-tec is just a lot smaller there. For just about any other purpose, the Sigma is better.

Also, the Sigma is no longer in production, so going forward the Kel-tec will be easier to replace. That'll be true regardless of if they pass any legislation (which I personally believe is unlikely until 2014 if the GOP looses the house), but if they do the Kel-tec will not be affected at all, so you'd still be able to get it even then.

Personally, if you're not a die hard carry everyday type, I'd probably make the trade.

They haven't made them for about a year now. It's been replaced by the SDVE series.

I was kind of impressed with the Sigma and did the trade. I am amazed how close it is to my Glock. Trigger pull is a bit ling but I will deal with that.

It is an SW9C and came with one 10 rd mag. Pretty much a ghetto deal. Meet in the parking lot and make the trade. Gotta love Florida!

Yep! That's a keeper. It's getting hard to find anything other than a VE series sigma.

Good deal on the trade. As far as the deal, nothing wrong with meeting in a parking lot for a swap...would you rather let someone you don't know see where you live so they can make a target out of you?

Last weekend, I swapped one of my many Mosins for a Remington 597, 4 30 round mags and $70...for a rifle I picked up for $80 on Black Friday.

Nice pick up. I got a Sigma 9V for 219 + TAX two weeks ago at Cabela's here in WA. What really got me is it was on that was what some call the "All Gray" version it just looked good and was a great price. The guy traded it in on a new M&P 9 and only shot the Sigma once. Took it to the range today and handled very nice, and it did remind me of my friends glock.

I love my Sigma and would not trade it for anything. Having more then one is better!

A friend in my gun club bought the PF9 as his CCW gun but quickly replaced it due to reliability issues. It cost about as much as my SW9VE but is by comparison, how do I put this, is a junkier gun. The Sigma is bigger and bulkier, so not the ideal CCW gun. However, quality wise they compare favorably to a much more expensive gun. My Sigma has never jammed, no failure to feed issues or failure to eject problems. And unlike the KetTec no broken parts. I could have spent a lot more money and bought a "better" polymer framed striker fired gun, an ended up with a gun that shoots no better than my Sigma. And BTW, since I belong to a club with some fairly well off members, so I have had the opportunity to shoot just about every modern semi-auto handgun and the only ones that I believe are worth the higher price are the S&W M&Ps and the Springfield XDs. All the others are just a name. OK, I will concede that Glocks are good guns but I don't like the grip and the stock triggers are not much better than my Sigma.
