Lee Turret Press Is Setup, Advice Please

I too have to guide the brass into the die. I was upset at first and sent it back to Lee to fix it. They replaced a part that didn't make sense (I don't remember now which part), and it was a little better, but I still have to guide it. I don't like it, but I deal with it. I had no idea it...

    Reloading 40 S&W

For target loads, I use 165 Montana Gold JHP with 7 grains of HS-6. It's pretty lightweight.

    Cleaning brass-tumbler vs ultra sonic

Okay, so I tumbled some rifle brass this morning in the SS media, so now I can show a direct comparison. These photos compare 30-06 cases... one done in the Hornady Lock-n-Load sonic cleaner, the other in the Thumler's Tumbler with SS media, a squirt of Dawn and a dash of Lemi Shine. I also...

    Cleaning brass-tumbler vs ultra sonic

I placed my order on Jan. 28th and got it Feb. 18th, so it took exactly 3 weeks to get mine.

    Cleaning brass-tumbler vs ultra sonic

I got my Thumler's today, after a LONG wait! I just ran a batch of .40 s&w through it. My recipe is very similar to yours, longranger. I used a gallon of hot water, a squirt of Dawn and a tbs of Lemi Shine and ran that for two hours. Man, they came out shiny! My question is this... after...

    M&P 40c "sluggish slide"!!

I still have the same problem, even after several hundred rounds. You may want to read this thread -- http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/268843-40c-firing-issue.html My next step is to cut a couple of 'loops' out of the mag spring, as that seemed to work for this other guy...

    Secrets of the Bathroom Stall

I too have a Beltman belt (2 of them) and Crossbreed Supertuck. When my pants go down, my PPQ 40 just stays where it is. As another person stated, I just apply outward pressure at my knees to keep the gear from hitting the floor.

    Reloading the S&W 40

I've got the M&P 40c, myself, and I was also looking for a good pet load. I tested several out at the range last week, and it looks like I found a good one: Montana Gold 165gr JHP, CCI primer, 6.6gr HS-6, 1.13" COAL. This load got me about 870 fps and cycled the weapon just fine. Any less...

Message To New or Potential Reloaders

Haha! With my wife it's the Housewives of Wherever... Whenever those come on, that's my cue to head to the garage to get some reloading done. I've been doing it for about 9 months - 9mm and .40 S&W. I started with the Lee Classic and moved up to the Classic Turret. I really love the way...

    40 s&w charging data help

Thanks for your replies! Yeah, I got a batch of 1000 165gr Montana Gold JHP that I'm just about to start using, so I'm starting with the minimum charge for both the HS-6 and Power Pistol. I just thought it was odd that the numbers were so different. I think I will call Hodgdon/Alliant and/or...

    40 s&w charging data help

    I have a question about inconsistencies between manuals. I have some 40 S&W 165gr Montana Gold JHP bullets with HS-6 powder. I've got several manuals, and this is what I see: Lee book - COAL=1.125", 7.3gr - 8gr Speer book - COAL=1.120", 8gr - 8.5 gr (huh?!) Sierra book - COAL=1.125", 6.4gr -...

    Apex Tactical D/CAEK Observations

My setup and experience was almost exactly the same as yours. I must have fussed around with that slave pin for a good 20-30 minutes. It was all worth it when I finished though, same as you. I would highly recommend these kits to anyone with a M&P 40c!

    Frog Lube???

I have a question for you guys. The book on Garand maintenance that I use (which my buddy who rebuilds Garands recommended) says to use Hoppes 9 every time after shooting to dissolve all of the copper out of the barrel. I run a few passes through with the brass brush and some patches with...

    Sonic Cleaners

Hornady Lock-n-Load Sonic Cleaner I use the small Hornady Lock-n-Load sonic cleaner on my brass. It does a great job of cleaning the brass inside and out, including the primer pockets. As others have said, it takes at least a day for them to dry out (if you don't want to put them in an oven...
