I have had good luck with all my forties ,loading 4.4 grains of W.inchester super light ,and 175 grain lead semi wad cutters .these are available at redline bullets.com

I use H Universal with the 40 & 165 grn plated bullets. My charge is fairly mild in the 5.2 grn area.

I came across some oddball 160 gr jacketed RN bullets. Worked it up from 4.5 gr (Hodgdon starting load for 165 gr) and ended up with 5.2 gr of Titegroup and overall length of 1.125. Works good for me as a target load, plenty accurate.

I use 7 grs of power pistol actually bought that powder when wife bought a 40SW. it works well and am trying in the 357 , 45 and 44 but havent shot enough to confirm Beye is my normal load in everything but 44 which is 2400

I load Power Pistol in my .40 with 180 grain bullets; it would be the first powder I would try with 165s as well. Consistent metering, clean burning, fantastic ES and SD, bulky enough to give good case fill, and low pressure yet good velocity.

In my 180 grain load, I use 6.4 grains and get 980fps out of a 4" barrel. Most books give a starting load of 6.2 grains. It's a great, safe powder to duplicate factory velocity with reduced pressure. It is still clean burning at .38 +P pressure levels, too, so no worries about reduced pressure.

It is a great powder.
