That is pretty much all I have shot out of the pistols I own and never had a problem with it. Clean burning too. I have shot it in 9,40,&45 and have shot around 2000 rounds of it between all the calibers. I like it but doesn't mean everyone will.

Shot my 40c with a 9 barrel yesterday just to see if I would have any problems and worked fine. Now I only shot one mag with about 10 in so that doesn't tell me if I would have problems later but gotta save the 9's for the shield :))
I have a 40c and a 9 shield. Have a desantis mini scabbard for both and with the shield being thinner and shorter it doesn't print as much. I'm in the process of getting a IWB holster so can tell you much on that. If it was down to have one gun to carry and go to the range with I would choose...
They don't sell a conversion for it. They offer 9mm barrels. I'm guessing if you call and tell them you are buying it to put in a .40 gun you probably won't get one. Storm lake offers a barrel which they call a conversion for it but twice the price of a smith barrel.
Well decided just gonna wait till a .40 comes in and trade the 9 in on it and get what I originally wanted. It will probably be a while but I do at least have one to carry for now.
Ok here is an answer because I can find .40 ammo. May be different where you live but not here. I can come by .40 ammo easier than 9 any day of the week. Also I forgot that I had bought a .40 snap cap at a gun show anticipating getting my shield .40 but the 9 came in first so I took it, anyway...
The only thing I noticed in the pictures in the other thread was that the .40 looked pretty tight in the extractor. It may not be as tight as it looks in the pictures, just hard to tell.
From everything I have read posted here everything is the same except for the top tang of the barrel. In which you have to take about .10 off each side to allow it to fit. So are you saying they machine the breech face where the firing pin comes through to a different size?
I know a lot of the conversion talk has been beat to death on the 40 to 9 but I searched and only found a couple threads on the 9 to 40 switch. I have read how to do it just wanting to hear from the ones that have actually done it and if they had any problems. Pretty sure if you get the tang cut...
