With all the deals going on in the AR world, I ended up finding an assembled upper receiver for dirt cheap and just swapped it on. Just looks "conplete" with a FA and dust cover. But now that I think of it, I've never closed it really, and never touched the FA. My m&p15 has been changed...

Keep in mind, even though it uses a carbine buffer and spring, it's a rifle lenght tube. The center bore is just drilled to carbine depth. What that means is if you put a collapsing stock on it and slid it forward, the buffer tube will stick out if the rear of the stock. Take a look at end of...

I'd think lubrication might do the job well, but worst case scenario you might see a thin patina form over the bare AL over time, but I don't think you'd see it corrode away. You could always clear coat the area, or use other forms of covering other than anodizing. But with the way I clean...

Not necessarily. Not all AR 80% are the same. Some are more closer to 90% complete and just require machining out the fire control group pocket. You might see bare AL inside the AR, but outside is already compete. Some however required some other machining and tapping of the buffer tube...
