.... another thing I noticed when taking out of the box and removing from the protected plastic sleeve was that the PC model the outside of the slide was nicely oiled lightly where as with the standard it was not.  They were both new in the box.  I do not know if this is only done with the PC...

My carry on belt holster for when in a suit and my pocket carry holster for all other times with my Shields:

.... yeah, the ports are another area that need cleaned but I just use Q-Tips and the cleaner. Not hard.

My EDC has been the S&W M&P Shield 9mm #180021 and I have no complaints with it. I absolutely love it as a matter of fact. I recently purchased the Ported Performance Center version #10108 and even though I find the differences suttle, I actually do like it even moreso. The ports actually help...

No. S&W doesn't include the fired casing any longer. I just purchased my 2nd M&P Shield 9mm but this time the Performance Center ported model 10108 and it had no spent shell casing. I too called S&W and was also told they don't do that any longer.

Yep. Plus if you use it as a tool then the ejected shells also nick up the finish. I just talked to a guy that removed all the black off his m&p shield and then polished it up. Looks very sexy now with the stainless being that white silver color and the black grip!

Congrats! The 1st 4 shots I got a dead on bullseye from 10 yards wit my M&P 9 Shield. 1st time I shot a handgun too! I just wish the black coated finish on the stainless steel wouldn't wear off and scuff so easily. But this is a gun for self defense, to carry, and to shoot at the range...

My M&P Shield is only a week old and fired only a few rounds and the black finish is showing signs of wear already. When using the gun to fire a lot or just carrying in a leather or kydex holster, the finish will wear off as will with most stock guns. Yes, it is a nature of the beast. I too...
