I have my shotgun. Now, what ammunition?

I understand #1 buck is probably best indoors; 00 or 000 and slugs outside.

What guns make you think you want another of the same

CZ 85B and CZ75D PCR; they fit me (grip angle, width, depth) Winchester 94 - 20" XTR and 24" Legacy; balanced, fast, flat shooting to 200+ yards, not an ounce of extra metal anywhere.

    CCW gun?

340 M&P. Facilitates meeting the first rule of a gun fight; outside coat pocket or front pants pocket depending on weather, always in pocket holster. The XS sight and big U notch work well with my 60 year old eyes. Ranger 130 gr bonded +P in speedloaders; Remington 125 gr .357 in speed strips...

    JM Checkered Grips

Thanks for all the replies, guys! And the eye candy. Those are some beautiful revolvers. Toad, all the revolvers I mentioned are RB other than the 66 no dash. I am asking about checkered vs smooth JMs. The Hogues synthetics are comfortable but tend to move my grip down the frame. The...

    JM Checkered Grips

Me, neither :) Miculek says he likes them smooth to make it easy to adjust his grip if he misses a perfect hand placement on draw. I understand his point, but I'm not quite as concerned as he is, given my limited exhibition shooting (none)!

    JM Checkered Grips

Wondering if anyone has had experience with these. I've had smooth ones on several revolvers (original Mountain Gun, 66 no dash, and 17 (-10 I believe, 6", full lug, 10 shot, aluminum cylinder). I like them a lot, particularly as they encourage me to take a high grip, aiding rapid fire, fit my...

    686 Plus Night Sights

Dawson Precision makes one. I've been very pleased with sights from them for other handguns. I just put a DP front fiber optic sight on my 686 Plus Pro.

    Shotgun powders...

While it's likely there some "see our great new product!" involved, there are differences in volume, metering characteristics, performance in cold weather, and burn rate, etc. For example, an identical shot charge at the same velocity will have a tighter pattern with American Select than with...

    Governor Owner Ammo Choices

Cost and potential change in point of impact. 50 rounds of .45 ACP HSTs are $27; 20 rounds of 45 LC PDX1 is $29. I finish every range session with a round or two of .410 and 4-5 rounds of HST. POI for those two rounds and the service ball load are just about the same.

    Governor Owner Ammo Choices

The .410 loading of 4 .36/9mm caliber round balls at north of 800 fps with a spread in inches less than half the yardage to the target seems pretty potent to me; 4 chances for a spine/aorta hit with one trigger pull. That said, I'd feel pretty well defended with 6 rounds of HSTs. My main...

    Governor Owner Ammo Choices

I'm a new Governor owner and use it as a bedside gun, not a carry weapon or a general purpose outdoor gun. After putting a few hundred rounds down range, I can't think why I'd put 45 LC in it. I've settled on Federal .410 000 buck and Federal HST .45 ACP for defense and .45 ACP 230 gr. ball...

    Safety or No Safety?

I appreciated the ambi thumb safety on my M&P 9 as I felt comfortable with it unholstered in a night stand drawer with a round chambered and the thumb safety engaged.
