Smith Model 49-deal or no deal?

It took me forty years to like the 49 because I just didn't care much for the hump. But now that I actually own one (1978) I really love it.

Smith Model 49-deal or no deal?

So overnight it went up $50? That's kinda strange.

My 642 cylinder yoke is FROZEN in the frame. WHY???

I have one other forum member asking about acquiring it but as I have told him its up to my FIL if he wants to take it back and do what he wants with it. I gave it to him, so it's his to do with what he thinks best. BUT... if my FIL doesn't want it and the other member doesn't want to futz...

    Clean .357 158 grain ammo ?

Believe it or not the aluminum cased CCI Blazer load is very clean. @ Under 18 bucks per fifty at online sites like Sportsmans Guide.

My 642 cylinder yoke is FROZEN in the frame. WHY???

That is what I am going to suggest to my FIL. If it were my gun this would never have happened, but if it were my gun and this actually happened I wouldn't piss money away on a good gunsmith @ $50/hr or more. I'd just quit trying. I have several other J-frames!!!

My 642 cylinder yoke is FROZEN in the frame. WHY???

Thank you for understanding what the problem really is. Not the misguided but helpful tips that are not germane to this.

My 642 cylinder yoke is FROZEN in the frame. WHY???

Well, I admit that I used misdirected blows at the beginning, but nothing very forceful when I was hitting the back of the cylinder instead of @Hondo44 s great suggestion of going thru the cylinder hole at 4-o'clock. So I have dunked this gun in Kano Kroil for weeks and tapped on the yoke every...

Being a 4" it is certainly worth more than a six-inch and I think that the price is fairly reasonable in todays market. You will find over the years that you won't regret buying it at the price they ask. Ask yourself what other present day production revolver of its quality can you buy today...

LEO’s: Do You Think 9 Rounds of .45 ACP is Enough?

I carry a Colt 1911 Rail Gun plus three more mags on my duty belt, which I have done for years. Never concerned me at all. Hits matter, not round count.

My 642 cylinder yoke is FROZEN in the frame. WHY???

Okay, I have swept aside the kerosene and Ed's Red and gone to Kano Kroil. Tonight I took a 1" wood dowel and slotted the end to accommodate the cylinder pin, and after the cylinder had been bashed back and forth maybe 5-6 times well my adult son and I we went to town on it. Trying to drive...

Actually he is my FIL. But I call him Pops or Dad.

My 642 cylinder yoke is FROZEN in the frame. WHY???

I have a can of KanoKroil so if Ed's Red does nothing I will go for the real penetrating stuff. Old man pissed me off with this. Gave it to him expecting that it would be cared for.

My 642 cylinder yoke is FROZEN in the frame. WHY???

Thanks all. I had already thought about that scenario, and I failed to mention that before I even tried to swing the cylinder open I dunked it into a half gallon of kerosene and other stuff (Ed's Red) and left it submerged for three days. This is really perplexing. And I am ripping the old...
