    60, 66, or 686

As far as I know, there is no issue with the forcing cone on the 66-8. It has been redesigned to eliminate that problem.

    60, 66, or 686

I used to have a 686+ and liked it except I always felt that it might not be concealing as well as I would like it to. I currently have a 327 PC, a 642, and my 66-8 that has had some Performance Center work done on it. The 327 would be best if it wasn't so bulky and if you could easily shoot...

    Ideal revolvers to replace Shield?

Currently I carry my Model 66-8 with 2.75" barrel and it is easy for me to carry. I also have a Colt Night Cobra that works well too although you can't shoot magnum loads in it. For that the Combat Magnum is great!

38 vs 357 for home defense

I suspect you will be waiting a good while for that. Especially if you are looking for someone who shot both a .357 Magnum round in the house in a self defense situation and also shot a .38 special round inside the house in a self defense situation. Years ago I shot my M19 with full magnum...

38 vs 357 for home defense

I keep my 686+ loaded with Buffalo Bore 125 gr., low flash, lower recoil magnums, product #19G. These work very well for me and I wouldn't be afraid to use them inside my home. You should try a few different kinds of ammo and see how you interact with that ammo.

What's the story with new production?

I bought a new 686 PLUS 3" this spring from my LGS. They did seem hard to come by though. The test casing envelope had a March date on it and I put it on layaway the first of April.

    Shooting with a laser sight

How well do you shoot the 642 without the laser? How well do you shoot with the laser? My opinion more and more is that self defense shooting should be threat focused, not front sight focused. Having said that, you still need to be able to use your fixed sights as best you can. If you want...

3 New S&W Revolvers into layaway.

My LGS called me when one came in a couple of months ago. I like that kind of treatment!

New to me 686-6+ and a question

The box also says 686-6. At least mine does as well as indicating a 3" barrel. The -6 indicates which revision, if you will, of the 686 PLUS it is. I've had mine for almost two weeks now. I have been dry firing it and will take it to the range this coming Tuesday.

New Market,, the direction of revolvers??

    I am pleased with what I have, a 686 PLUS with 3" barrel and a 642.

I've searched and cannot find one.....

I have the 5 Star Speed loaders for my 642 and my 686 PLUS. I like them a lot! I think the counter clockwise rotation for releasing the rounds is actually an improvement over the HKS. I always used the Safariland Comp I in the past but I like the 5 star just as well or better. Also, I got a...

    Shooting with wood grips

I use the Hogue Tamers on my 642 and like them. I tried the Pachmyr Compacs on it and they feel fine too but I can't use my Safariland Comp I speedloaders with them so I prefer the Hogues.

    Apex kit for a 638 J-Frame?

It made a big difference in my 642. Trigger pull went from about 13 lbs. to about 9 lbs. The trigger pull is smoother as well and it functions as it should.

    J-Frame Grips and Speed Loaders

I have the Hogue Tamers and my Safariland Comp I speed loaders work well with them. The Hogue Tamers also cover the back strap and do a good job of cushioning.

    Apex Duty/Carry kit

My 642 functions just fine with the Apex kit and trigger pull and smoothness is much improved.
