After deciding to pass on the 627PC 2.625" purchase that I had a deposit on due to feeling it was too redundant to my newly acquired 686PC 2.5", I felt a void or a need to seek out something else. I set out and refocused on where I had some wants and needs in my revolver arsenal. I went looking at .22 revolvers and after looking at no less than 4 models from several manufacturers, the clear winner for me was the S&W 43C and I was lucky enough to find one local as it seems the most elusive of all .22 revolvers I sought to compare with. It's now in layaway as I await my purchase coupon to add it's to my pistol license just like the next two below. I was going to include the
factory photo, but it appears different in person with Air-Lite etched on the right side plate.

Next up I asked if they had either a 442 Pro or 442-1 No internal lock model. While I already own a '96 442 and have a 642 Pro incoming, I can't get enough of these fine .38 Airweight J's! Turns out they had the 442-1 No Internal lock model SKU# 150544

Finally, I came across a new 686-6 Plus 3" (SKU#164300) that I hardly ever see locally as they always sell when one arrives. No coincidence either as I had just watched Hickok45's video of his Talo edition 3" 686 Plus. It was easy to get past any feeling of it being redundant not just for the extra half-inch barrel, but the trigger on this is equal to or better than that of my 686PC. This also fills the 3" void in my arsenal since I already have a 4" Ruger GP-100 Match Champion and have my sights set on a new Model 66 sometime down the road. It was one of the situations that the decision made itself.

Very nice. I bought a 3" 686 Plus a couple months back -- I was there when the clerk put it on the shelf! I all but screamed "Mine!"

LOL! I can truly appreciate your reaction! After finding the 686, I looked left and right to see if anyone happened to be eyeing it, thankfully not... I then asked the shop clerk to put it on a bill of sale for me... done deal! This is exciting to me because I am embarking on buying more handguns this year so far than I ever have in such a short period of time. Hopefully my buying spree ends before my extra cash runs out...:)

Nice scores.
I don't blame you.
That 3" 686 is sweet.
As is the 442.
If only I could find a 40 or 640.

Those 3 would fill some holes in my collection, too. I have the 351c and like it very much. The no-lock 442 is also on my wish list, as is a 686 or some sort.

By the way, I think the 43c will be an excellent trainer for your 442. The 43c is several ounces lighter and will have a much heavier trigger than the 442. If you can develop good accuracy with the 43c, your accuracy with the 442 should be even better.

That was actually my original reasoning as well on the 43C, then I also realized I need .22LR revolver since I never followed through on a local 617 that cropped up that I thought I would buy.

In another thread I am considering a new 629 .44, but I could very well just go off the deep end and buy another variation of a J-Frame I don't have yet: The 442 Pro. (Note: I am awaiting my purchase coupon for a642 Pro already, so you can see my reference about going off the deep end over J-Frame variations!

My LGS called me when one came in a couple of months ago. I like that kind of treatment!
