No pin. No recess. Often a different thumb piece. Rear site is rounded at front. Round butt. Rubber grips.

I have one in .40. It's a great gun.

I just picked up a 98% 4" 686-4 from my local dealer for $421 out the door. I took her to the range and it shoots great...as expected. I think I did okay on price. What are these going for nowadays on the secondary market? Thanks.

Aren't side plates polished in-place on the frame at the factory? If so, how does a sideplate stand that proud on an otherwise properly polished gun? Replacement sideplate maybe?

That is a beauty! I prefer the unfluted CH line myself though. I do love the wood Hogue grips. I have a set just like that on a 29. They offer a great feel and even better looks!

Dry-firing can raise a burr on the hammer nose bushing sometimes. I've had it happen.

I likewise bought a 629-1 in lnib condition for $500 from a local gunshop somewhat recently.

I have a SW99 and it is a wonderful gun.
