Not at all. S&W will tell you the same thing. It will help smooth the trigger pull out over time.
 
I broke my 629 MG once while dry firing it.

I took it to my gunsmith (who I bought it from new) ..... and he fixed it RIGHT THEN .... for free!

He said that as far as he was concerned .... it was a fluke to break and thus covered the repair out of his pocket with no wait....

A real standup deal .......

I have been dry firing since then ..... bought the gun new in '98 .... and NOTHING else has gone wrong.

No. The old style folded instruction sheets packed with revolvers actually recommended doing so.

S&W's web site also said no problem as to centerfires the last time I looked.
