It is likely a LEO trade in. My CSP 4006 has an inventory number laser etched on the slide, frame, and barrel just like yours.

Personally I like the bobbed hammer. I didn't at first though. I have a 5906 as well and I wish it had the bobbed hammer.

I own 12 sigs... all P series with the exception of the P230/232 and P239. and I also own a 4006 and a 5906. I would rank the 3rd gen smihts right up there with the best Sigs made. The trigger on the Smith is much nicer.

Lubriplate! Buy a tube of Lubriplate 105 motor assembly grease at Napa for $8. It will last you a lifetime.

Since we're sharing... I post this pic up as much as possible. This is a CA State Parks 4006. It was ordered as a piggyback to the original CHP order. The only difference is the laser engraved title and bear, otherwise it is a CHP spec 4006. This was taken about 5 minutes after I picked it...

Same here. The straights are awesome.

I have a 4006 with adjustable sights and a 5906 with fixed sights. The 5906 is a laser. The 4006 not as much. I much prefer the fixed Novak sights over the adjustable ones.

Welcome to the club... Mine came with 3 mags all with the same PR# as the pistol. This is about 5 minutes after I got it and before I cleaned it up.

I currently own 9 Sigs. Comparing a 3rd gen to a Sig is apples and oranges. I am a leftie as well. Sig is BY FAR the most southpaw friendly pistol out there. You can swap the mag release if you want. I just use my trigger finger.
