    S&W .38 special Model 64-3

Enjoy your 38, the model 64 is a great gun, the only thing better than one is two.

    Worn Blueing and field use

Even Stainless will rust if not taken care of (just more resistant than carbon steel). If you dry it and oil it it will be OK but I agree that that the 101 would be my choice. Good luck which ever way you go : Bill

    Model 60 problem

Just wanted some advice before I tried working on it but got no answers so went ahead. There was some good info on this site that helped, have more experience with Ruger single actions and their timing works a little differently.

    Model 60 problem

I recently acquired a model 60 no dash (made in 67). The cylinder bolt stop drags on the notches of three chambers when you cock it single action but not double action, this is very slight but noticeable if you cock slowly. If this were a single action Ruger I would take a little of the top of...

Yes it has a diamond around the grip screw and is a bright finish but the trigger and hammer are nickle plated (light silver color).

    cast bullets

Hodgdon and Speer manuals have some lead loads listed Laser-Cast and RCBS have loads also listed. The thing to keep in mind lead bullets are like jacked bullets and are not all the same. Soft lead bullets will go to to high pressure sooner than hard cast. The hard cast bullets can be loaded to...

    DOB Model 60

Hi I picked up a nice model 60 no dash, and am curious as to when it was made. The gun has a pined barrel and a serial # 4793**, have not found an online place to get this information. When did the first dash get added to a M60? This gun is like most snubs I have seen, looks to be shot very...

9mm cast bullets in .38 special plinking loads

Have loaded 9mm lead bullets in 38 special to shoot in a derringer, made a nice practice load. Have also shoot 4 or 5 hundred in 38 snub nose with no problem. If you can't trade them, use them in the 38. Good luck : Bill

    Question about primers

The above information is similar to what I have experienced. The rifle primers are a little stronger mettle to handle the higher pressures of rifles. You may have problems if your gun has a week main spring. Load five or six test round and try them (start with the the lowest load listed and work...

    need some help

Have had good luck with Lee reloading equipment. My equipment is all single stage and load or have loaded quite a number of different calibers. If you are new to reloading you might want to start with a single stage press rather than a progressive. The progressive will load ammo faster but is...

    Leading

As mentioned above there is more to leading than velocity. I have had leading problems with hard cast at target velocity and no leading with wheel weights with the same load in the same gun and just the opposite with higher velocity loads. Also stainless hand guns seem to lead more with my...
