I'd like to learn more about your experiences and shooting impressions of your modified revolvers. I know that you're quite happy.
? How does that 45 PD point, handle and shoot?
? How much do you think the custom work improved the base revolver?
? What has improved...
Idaho,
Without a photo I'm not sure I can give you the right advice. I assume you're talking about fine surface - as opposed to deep - pitting.
With nickel you're in between a rock and hard place.
Best way to clean is mechanically, but you have to know what you are doing.
If you are going...
S & W's Personal Defense (PD), Military & Police (MP) and Night Guard (NG) are all closely related.
I think overall, the Night Guard (NG) series offers the best value, especially for concealed carry. Next is the Military & Police (MP) line, although I only like the 340CT and PC-325 Thunder...

You have good taste.
Who did the work on your 396? Just like your 357 and PC-45.
You're a big Mag-Na-Port fan if I recall. They do good work.
Where'd you source your Spegels? They picked some really nice grain patterns out for you.
I'm sure a lot of folks have experienced this frustration.
The most accurate load is never the one I want or that I'd like it to be. And it seems it is always one that is not readily available or wildcat, etc.
Not much you can do about it. Really, nothing you can do about it but accept it...

From The Snubnose Files:
"Between 1991 and 1998, S&W produced the Model 940, a stainless Centennial chambered in 9mm. A group of three hundred were built in the .356 TSW caliber (good luck finding ammo for that one), and a prototype Model 942 Airweight in 9mm was built but did not go into...
You need to ask as many questions as you find necessary.
If you have access to a large, local gunshow that's where you can see it all. Big shows drive me nuts - too much to take in all at once.
Hello All,
I don't follow S & W autos. I know they mfr'd them in .356 TSW - I believe all through the Performance Center.
However, was a revolver in this chambering ever offered???
The .356 TSW was an odd one. If I recall, meant for IPSC to meet major factor.

I assume you mean where the wood grips directly contact the frame.
Probably a reaction between the tannic acids, (tannins) that are in all hard-woods, and the iron resulting in ferric tannate. Ferric tannate is what gives ink its black color. Usually a very fine textured "film" that is...
For your specific project you will very likely be happy with Cylinder & Slide.

This URL takes you right to Cylinder & Slide's S & W Revolver section:

Their work is 1st rate, plus they have good...
Just curious as to others' experiences with stainless steel revolvers.
I used to live in a very high humidity salt water/marine environment but with consistent maintenance my stainless revolvers did not discolor, rust or pit. To be honest neither did my blued guns. I would simply clean and...
