    645 or 4506?

It is so. The example I have came with Pachmeyr stocks. OP-are the sides of the slide and frame polished stainless with the dust cover and slide top on bead blast? That’s the 2nd Gen finish style,so if the pistol is all-bead blasted I’d call it a transitional piece. The right side safety is...

    Fun With Glocks, or Not

If the safety between one’s ears is broken, there ain’t a lever in the universe that can help.

Not news, but no more work on Gen 3 guns from factory

Agreed, but i'm not sure about this: you send it in to them and they either give you a choice of a new production revolver, free of charge, or some guys have paid cost, so a new GP100 that normally sells for 600 will cost you 300. Sure it fulfills the company's obligation, but for us this...

Not news, but no more work on Gen 3 guns from factory

If we assume S&W is copying Glock's business model with the M&P line, we can expect that 15 years from now they'll still be making essentially the same gun.Further there arent as many components S&W needs to stock for service, because polymer. It should be noted that excess inventory on a...

Not news, but no more work on Gen 3 guns from factory

@ Fastbolt. On the flip side of the coin; the kind of person who shoots 1000 rounds every weekend is maybe 1% of a products customer base. Even us members here are firearm 1%ers. The typical person even in these "high volume ammo" times may shoot 200 rounds for a group session with the whole...

My handgun is obsolete? Why is that?

18DAI- the guns themselves are not obsolete. The intellectual stamina required to train enough to shoot them well very much is obsolete. Who has time to read the manual, operate a decent trigger, or train around a gun? Learning your gun is soooo 1970s Jeff Cooper. We do however have time to...

    Third Generations vs. M&P Line?

In the vein of the SAT: An M&P is to the 3rd Generation, as a City Bus is to a vintage Jaguar.

    S&W 4566 TSW rail removed

Because ,speaking for myself, I commute to work on an interstate rather then a MH-60 helicopter. I have no need for adding to a company's accessory revenue stream-err, lights and lasers and would accordingly restore a 3rd Gen dustcover afflicted with the vestigial rail to its proper form. +1...

Interesting story about police m&p pistol contract

Two people at conversation distance in a room. One of them is openly carrying a handgun in a retention holster. Who's armed? Both of them. That was a lesson I gathered ten seconds into the first call during my ride along last year. Dispatch put out a description of a drunk dude passed out...

Would anyone else like to see the old S&W GEN 3 pistols comeback??

While i've instituted a personal "polymer assault(on the eyes) handgun ban" , its unlikely the rest of the gun market as a whole will suddenly value metal frames and high parts quality on their service pistols. Rather the opposite, in fact. The modern culture says metal guns are range toys and...

Would anyone else like to see the old S&W GEN 3 pistols comeback??

Therein lies the problem. Sig sells their modern P series pistols for about $800 or so dollars. Those guns also use substantially more low cost parts compared to the older West German models, and it shows. The only way Smith and Wesson could compete is if they did the same thing- and I'm not...

No market for hammer fired metal guns?

Cutting edge innovation has its place. The display windows of gun shops and the holsters of their customers, is NOT one of them. The seriousness of firearms means innovation is something to strenuously avoid. No, what we need IS tried and true designs with a proven track record. Not flash in...

    Revolvers are for women.

Women need a revolver, eh? Sounds like their spouses need a reality check. Most women I see shooting at my local range ,honestly, are more squared away then their boyfriends/husbands. I remember seeing this one couple take up a lane , fiancee shoots a manhole cover pattern at 10 yards with a...

    Rationalizing a 5943 purchase

A wise choice. The supply is fixed as S&W is unlikely to produce new ones-and I hope someday to be proven wrong about that point. Anyways at the moment limited supply isnt a big deal-until Hillary "President Elect To Be" Clinton runs her yap about finishing what Slick Willy started. If you...

Would anyone else like to see the old S&W GEN 3 pistols comeback??

Thanks for making my point for me! They sell for $615 retail despite being made in a country with signifigantly lower labor costs. No UAW in South Korea,as it were. Picture how much they'd be if those LH9s were made in the US, as a 3rd gen reissue would have to be.
