    Dead PC

Nvidia does not play nice w/ Linux. Ubuntu (and Mint) generally require the least work to get going. Apple? They are the biggest control freaks in the tech world!

    Ejector: Shells flying "too far"

Are you tall? I'm 6'8" and shooters two or three lanes over will complain about getting hit by brass out of my PX4. Shells fly right over the top of the lane dividers.

Should I buy another handgun or get a rifle.?

Get a .22 rifle, you won't regret it. Good ones are available under $200, and some like the Mossberg 702 hardly run over $100. I would not blow $300 or $400 on an AR-style 22. Go basic at first. You'll have plenty of money left over for your next gun.

    One Second After

We're spoiled in this country. My German cousins survived WWII and its aftermath without turning on each in chaos. They lost everything including children. My father's family mailed them care packages of flour, sugar, tobacco and sundry items for five years after the war ended. EMP's? The...

Latest internet snake oil scam caught me!

My Nigerian banker told me he only makes cash purchases (incl. money orders). He nevers gives out his credit card number.

Welcome from a fellow Buckeye. Where to start? Gun safety. Gun ownership entails responsibility more than anything.

Ever Keep Funds Available For That Special Purchase?

I'm old-fashioned and still use cash for my day-to-day purchases. A neat trick I learned during Y2K (remember that?) was to pull all the ones and fives out of my pocket at the end of the day and put it in an envelope. It's amazing how fast it piles up (much faster than saving change). So, I...

    My first Smith & Wesson

Almost embarrassed to admit it, but .22's are my favorites. Bought a cheap Mossberg rifle at Wally-World and enjoy it more than anything. Picked up a cherry Mk II recently. Passed on a S&W 41 last year I wished I'd picked up now. Got a few other pistols, a couple of which run bigger.

    Dry firing

Not sure where to put this post, so considering I've got a 12-2 this is as good a place as any. I've got two revolvers with hammer-mounted firing pins. I do not like dry firing any gun (grew up w/ 22's) and I'm wondering if a spent cartridge (.38 in this case) can be used for an occasional dry...

    Best bulk 22 ammo?

CCI Standard Velocity is my favorite. Accurate and consistent. There's lot of good .22 ammo out there. Just have to see what works best in your piece.

Point Shooting for Self Defense - Your Experiences

Point shooting gained new emphasis for me after reading about an NYPD report on shootings. Only 1 in 33 officers discharging their firearms in the line of duty during 2010 used his ( or her?) gunsights according to a NY Times article. That was a real shocker for me. Target shooting is...

Value of a Ruger Service Six 9mm?

$650 might be on the high end. The 9's definitely bring a premium over the rest of the Ruger revolvers. I owned a Service Six in .357 years ago. Great gun.

    Scientists to Study Bigfoot DNA

Yes. Aren't there a couple of Sasquatchs playing for the Trailblazers? Easy pickings that time of year. ;)
