I just completed my build and took it to the range for the first time today. It took 2 months... and 45 minutes to finish. Two months for my complete upper to come in... and 45 minutes to put it all together. There can be a lot of research involved ( which I don't mind) if you are kind of picky...

If they are very dear friends, and they find out you knew and didn't say anything, hmmm. I can see that backfiring. Any chance talking to the kid and asking why they are not telling? And possibly making them seeing the error in their ways? It would be a lot better coming from the source.
